Southwest is Horrible

OK, so, for our July trip, our fare for 5 of us went down a total of $700.00. So, I have a $700 credit. We decided to go down in September to Universal for the weekend. The total of the flight is $1,547 for the 5 of us. So, total with credits should be $847 right? Nope. I couldn't do it online, so I called and have been talking with them for over an hour trying to get this resolved. They're telling me they can't apply the credit even though it's the exact same 5 people flying. Makes absolutely no sense at all. They're telling me they'll have to book separate one way reservations for each person, and even then, it's still coming up more than it should.

This is ridiculous. An hour I've been on the phone with them. Simple solution - Get a supervisor on the phone, turn my credits into a gift card, and let me use that.

Wow that's really annoying. I wonder why you are having so much trouble?? I always have a southwest credit and never have any trouble applying it online. Maybe because it's so much? Mine aren't ever more than $100 and are usually just for me or one other person.

That's insane! We once had a $200 credit for flights that went down in price for my family of 4....that we used to purchase a ticket for my brother! What's their damage?!?! Sheesh! :brick:

Still on the phone with them. 1 hour and 20 minutes....

That's really a shame to hear. I continue to fly southwest BECAUSE of their customer service. A few weeks back I had to switch a few things around involving credits and old and new rewards points and it was a mess. Not only was the rep very friendly, she even called me back personally an hour later to explain to me it had all went through and that I could look for the new confirmations in my email.
Maybe you'll get a few drink tickets out of it? Ugh, what a mess for you!

I've been flying SW for as long as I can remember. Always end up with credits. Never had this problem before.

1 Hour 30 minutes....

The guy still can't get it to work. Now he's telling me he's going to call me back, after he booked 3 of us one-way and charged my credit card.

What a friggin' mess.

What a mess.

It's done, but for the 5 of us, they have 3 of us with 2 different confirmations, and the other 2 on 2 other confirmations. Not to mention that they couldn't figure out a way to apply the total $700 credit, so I had to settle for only $500.

Apparently, SW changed their credit system. What the guy said made no sense to me. I'm done with SW after this trip. They're getting too confusing.

I remain quiet, I try to be polite at times... but having read several of your posts, I have a question.

Can you ever NOT complain?

Thanks.

It shouldn't be. I think maybe the person you're speaking to doesn't know what they're talking about. A SW credit is tied to a reservation #, not to individual names/people. The only thing that goes into consideration is if the credit was for multiple tickets, but even then that only matters if you're past your one year window.

For instance, my fiance and I booked our travel out to Disneyland, and a couple months later found a cheaper fare and ended up having a $90 credit for each ticket. We weren't able to use these within a year, so when the time came to use them there was a $50 reactivation fee. Since it was for 2 tickets, it came out to be a $100 reactivation fee, and what I had left was $80 total credit left on that original Reservation #. I was able to use BOTH $40 Credits on her one ticket to get her to come meet me up in NYC for a business trip I was on without any problem.

I'll find a few for you:

"Forgot to post this. Was in line, and on the same coaster at The Hulk with David Gerrard of the Jacksonville Jaguars."
"You can if you stay on-site. Easily. In 1 hour, we did HRRR (twice), Jaws, Men In Black, Revenge Of The Mummy. In 3 hours, we did Hulk (twice), Forbidden Journey, Dragon Challenge (twice),..."
"Just rode it for the 1st time this weekend (3 times actually). Themed poorly - Yes. Great ride - Yes. I loved it!!!"

That's from this past week. Need me to go a bit further back to make you feel better?

Twitter: @southwestair still on hold, been over an hour. $700 in the air. #help @consumerist

Someone I think that's more effective than posting here that you've been on hold for over an hour.

Kidd, I do hope this will be the end of your bad airline run of luck. Let us all cross our fingers and send positive vibes your way.

In the meantime, maybe a well-versed letter explaining your disappointment in your (now past-tense) airline of choice. If for nothing else it gets it all out and you can send it away in the mail. Right?

I remain quiet, I try to be polite at times... but having read several of your posts, I have a question.

Harsh. Not very nice except the "thanks" part, I think.

Let us all remember what Thumper's mother says...if you can't say anything nice....

I dont think i have ever seen that.

Me either.

So you wouldn't be complaining over $700?

I'd be screaming and cursing over $700. Just me, tho.
