Southwest and Magical Express

Hello-

I know that Southwest is not a participating airline in Magical Express, and that on our return flight we can't check in at the hotel to save time. However, I thought that on the flight in we still got all the benefits from ME, but on another site I just read that if we go on SW we'll have to get our own luggage and bring it to the ME pickup area. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me? If that's the case, I might consider going with another airline... and does anyone know why SW doesn't participate fully (and if they ever will)? Thanks!

I call Disney a couple of days ago to set up my ME, they didn't mention anything about SW. I guess I would feel more confortable getting my own Luggage anyway, but the fact that it appears at your room is somewhat magical. Hopefully someone will be able to clarify this for us.

We flew Southwest in February and took the ME. When you arrive in the ME staging area, there should be CMs with big white Mickey hands. Tell them you flew SW, they will ask for your luggage claim tickets. Give them the tickets and they will get your luggage.

SW is definitely a participant of ME. We've used them before, and we'll be using it tomorrow as a matter of fact! You will not have to pick up your luggage as long as you've put the ME tags on it.

They do not participate in the program that allows you to check your bags for your return flight right at the hotel however. You will have to bring them to the bus yourself, and check them when you get to the airport.
Hope this helps!

We went in July on Southwest. When you arrive ME works just like any other airline. We checked our bags in Jackson, MS and didn't touch them again until we got in from the parks that night. The day we left we left our bags at the front of the resort (they lock them in a room for you), went to the parks until time to leave, then picked them up as we got on the bus. :)

When you fly in it does not matter, it's on the way home that matters. You just can't check in for the flight home at your resort. No biggie, the family and I have only had the joy of early check in 2 times from WDW to home, after so many visits, for me at least it doesn't really matter. But the convience is nice. Alittle more than a month till our 3rd visit this year, starting to have problems waiting, can't..........contain.......self.........much longer.... :zipit:

we took southwest end of august

We used southwest at the end of august. Going to disney you dont worry about luggage.

Leaving you have to check your self into the plane and carry your own luggage and check it in.

You can go to the custoemr service or reservations desk at your hotel and ask if they can check u in and print your boarding passes .

But basically you have to do it yourself when leaving if you use southwest.

You can however ask them to print your boarding passes at the front desk even if you're flying Southwest. (Remember you can do this 24 hours before your flight!)
