It's a long story that involves teaching a nephew how to drive a stick shift before he returns to college and us both wanting an In N' Out milkshake at 1:00AM, but suffice it to say I was on a deserted Ball Road last night at an ungodly hour.
Almost forgot, it also helps if you play this song as you read this.
And look what we saw coming at us down an empty Ball Road heading towards Disneyland... Mickey's Soundsational Parade floats on flatbed trucks! There was a growing line of these trucks getting off the southbound Orange Freeway and then heading west on Ball Road towards Disneyland.
Between teaching the strategy of British heel-and-toe shifting and ignoring the chocolate shake for a few moments, I snapped these photos for you all as proof... We got ourselves a CONVOY!
So, that's not a surprise, but it was surprising to see on Ball Road in the dead of night. Pixar Play Parade will unfortunately continue on through October and then be mercifully replaced by the Christmas Fantasy Parade in November. And then in 2019 Disneyland will bring back Mickey's Soundsational Parade as the afternoon offering for the park.
That plan doesn't show much vision, but TDA is probably terrified right now over plans (or lack thereof) to get ready for Star Wars frenzy next June. And it's at least a much better option than letting the Pixar thing enter its 11th year of existence and continue to look dumb and cheesy on the streets of Disneyland.
