Sounds Like Summer 2011

Good news apparently, for those of us - mostly locals - who brave 6 weeks of hellish heat to see the tribute bands at Epcot.

The U2 tribute, 2U, has Epcot on their schedule for July 23 - 30, 2011. Here's hoping this stands.

On a side note, I would recommend to anyone that has a favorite band, or bands, to drop a note to WDW asking them to rebook the ones you like. Disney has a way of changing things out from time to time, and may well drop some of our favorites.

Not U2

Bjorn Again hasn't appeared for at least two years, and it seemed like they were one of the more popular acts.

My favorites are 2U and Slippery When Wet. I haven't missed them since we started doing SLS. The loss of Bjorn Again was slightly disappointing, but not enough to fire off an email. But if I see a schedule that omits either 2U or Slippery, I'll be contacting them.

I've been told by a couple of people that I think should know that after the success of the movie "Mama Mia", Bjorn Again jacked their appearance fees way up and Disney was not amused.

Only a suggestion, but if you wait until you see a schedule that omits a group or two that you like, then it's too late to do anything about it. If you have a spare minute, you might want to go ahead and send a short email to WDW.

As we learned two years ago, they do listen.

I didn't make a connection with the movie, but I did look up their web site after they vanished from Epcot and it did seem like they had suddenly become rather a bigger act than the others a SLS.

Maybe not a bad idea. I remember last summer's schedule coming out with a couple of TBDs in it, but if 2U already has Epcot on their schedule then obviously Disney is booking acts already.

What happened two years ago? Had 2U been missing from the schedule before then? Two years ago (maybe three) was the first time I'd seen them, but I just assumed they'd been there every year.

This will be the 6th year for SLS, but 2U's 4th appearance. To be honest, they didn't much impress me the first two years, but this last summer they had put together the musical personnel to totally nail the music. We just kept going back and back and back.

My other reference to Disney listening is that two years ago, one of the groups was told by WDW that they weren't going to be asked back. A few of us sent some emails to Epcot management types and the group got a phone call within days to book them.
