Price is a bit high at 2800 bucks, so likely not finding its way into my bag but for something that fits in the palm of your hand

or you could spend 15 bucks on ebay and buy an Olympus XA...

but if film isn't your flavor, it's unreal to see manufacturers starting to get full frame sensors in a camera that small

ddbowdoin,

What do you think of the Sony NEX-7?

I have a NEX 3 and am thinking of upgrading.

I don't have much experience with Sony's line... I've used them with some reps at my local shop. I think they are a good idea, but the only issue I have is that if I want to strap good glass on them then the convenience of their lack of size is negated... because now you have a relatively large lens attached to it. I just haven't heard enough about their lenses, so I think it's a step in the right direction.

below is a good example... that lens strapped on is a Zeiss, so it's got a nice reputation packed to it. But I think the whole point of these cameras is too give you the quality without the size. This is why I'm excited about where Sony will take future generations after the RX1... 35mm equivalent sensors in a small body while limiting the lens profile. I think that's the biggest challenge, if they can't engineer lenses to be smaller in profile without giving up optical quality then I'm not sure how many pro's or enthusiasts would migrate to this type of product.

a lot of people are doing this... which is awesome quality, but at some point it defeats the point of these smaller cameras

but, you can also invest in adapters to use RF lenses from Zeiss, Voightlander, and Leica..

I think people underestimate lens quality and how it impacts your images. I think you need to look at what you shoot, where you are and what you see yourself doing with your work, then mash that all up and see how much you think you value this craft to see where your budget lies. This is an expensive game we all love.

Thanks for the feedback - I'm debating whether to upgrade my mirroless or go back to a DSLR.

I get what you are saying about the lenses. Although even with a big 'ol lens, my Nex-3 is easy to hold with one hand.

That RX-1 is awesome - thanks for showing it, never knew it existed.

I know what you mean, tough decisions. At least the 7 has a cropped sensor. Micro 4/3rd sensors are too small for me.

It's just been announced, don't think it's hit the shelves quite yet
