I am trying to purchase a new camera. Right now I have a Nikon Coolpix S630. Problem - it has a shutter lag and not enough zoom. Husband brought home a Nikon D5100. Real nice camera, but I find it heavy. Has anyone had any experience with the Sony Cyber Shot HX200V or can anyone give any advice?

If you are looking to reduce shutter lag, you really cannot beat a DSLR. They basically take the photo the instant you press the shutter release. Some of them are fairly compact, like the Canon Rebels.

You could also try one of the new mirrorless cameras from Sony (NEX range). They are very compact, allow changeable lenses, and are very fast in operation.

I have the Sony HX9V and i really like it. It does have some great features and the zoom is wonderfull for a compact camera. I have not been working with slowing the shutter speed or anything but i have been trying some of the gadget like making the background unsharp and it turns out fine! I believe there is an newer version with 18 mp and 20x optical zoom so it might be even better. Here are two sample images. Nothing fancy tho, just easy mode. Not manually set.

Thanks everyone for the camera information. I finally decided on a Sony HX200V. It has worked great for photographing the grandchildren. I can't wait to try it on a Disney trip. Right now it looks like the next trip will be in February 2013 at Disneyland. I'm so excited. It will be my 2nd trip to Disneyland.
