sony accuses disney of inflating pirates takings

The whole "six day" number is just ridiculous in my opinion. Disney was struggling for some kind of record so it's almost as if they made one up. I mean, who cares about six day grosses? That's like winning the perfect attendance award at school--no one really cares all that much.

I'm not a fan of the pirate sequels (just not my idea of great films), but there is no denying their impact and success, especially in putting Disney in the limelight. However, I guess Disney feels obligated to "oversell" their impact. Let's face it, in a summer where every weekend seems to drop another blockbuster into the cinema, it's hard for anything to have "legs" so to speak.

Nope...you are mistaken.

Disney reported Pirates made 401 million in six days...that much is clear.

Sony says that is not what Pirates made in six days because Disney added earnings from the seventh day to the six day total...so Disney is really reporting seven day totals, not six! Sony says if they were to add their seventh day as Disney did, the Spider-Man total would be 418 million...17 million more than Pirates.

Look, whatever the reason, Sony is claiming that Disney included a seventh day figure in their six day total, right?

If Disney has legitimate figures, then it would be on track to gain more than $418 million in it's week total (more than Spider-Man could get.)

Which is why Sony could be jealous if Disney did not fudge their figures.
