The whole "six day" number is just ridiculous in my opinion. Disney was struggling for some kind of record so it's almost as if they made one up. I mean, who cares about six day grosses? That's like winning the perfect attendance award at school--no one really cares all that much.
I'm not a fan of the pirate sequels (just not my idea of great films), but there is no denying their impact and success, especially in putting Disney in the limelight. However, I guess Disney feels obligated to "oversell" their impact. Let's face it, in a summer where every weekend seems to drop another blockbuster into the cinema, it's hard for anything to have "legs" so to speak.
