The decision not to release SotS on other media predates Iger. But, go ahead and make this an anit-Iger screed for no reason... which is the very definition of unreasonableness.
The Walt Disney Company should sell any movie to the public that they will buy, including Song of the South. The idea that today Disney or any other company can ignore revenue is crazy. I know some people want to rewrite the past but that is impossible and Disney needs the money. Don't put it on Disney Plus but sell it on DVD, HD and 4k.

I don't think you understand the harm it will do the company to actively promote material that is offensive. It hurts the brand. And the brand is often what makes some mediocre content profitable. The Disney Brand is why Touchstone and Hulu exist and don't get folded into "Disney". The Disney Brand is supposed to be a family brand full of optimism. R-rated movies, the casual stereotypes of SotS, the overt racism of the war propaganda shorts are either going to be buried or put out under another Brand.

Oh, you mean where Mickey and company put on a production of Uncle Tom's Cabin? The book that was written to help bring about the destruction of slavery? Yeah, Walt was so racist voicing Mickey for that. Good grief. Look, sensibilities have changed since then, and much for the better. But context is how mature people view history. Try it.
Funny because l don't recall ever making a comment about Walt being racist, only the subject matter of said cartoon would make for quite a discussion.
Reading comprehension. Try it.

Not the way a world recognized brand works. They would rather not be perceived to be racially insensitive. Might be good optics.

Yeah.....no.

I know you’re coming from the vantage point of a shareholder, so nuance is largely absent, but additional revenue from a film with little-to-no actual demand is not worth the stigma associated with the brand that they’d eventually have to spend resources pivoting from. The ROI, and the associated PR, make no sense.
