Song of the South

Because I have never seen it, I was planning on watching Song of the South before my next Splash Mountain adventure. Because of the recent thread, I watched it today. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with Song of the South! Other than Gone With the Wind, I have never seen an "old" [mostly] live-action film that I actually liked. This movie had me smiling from start to finish! Oh, and I spotted something unexpected!

Anyway, just wanted to say I loved the movie and it wasn't at all what I expected! I really hope they put it out on Blu-ray or DVD sometime soon!

It sadly will not happen. It is a great fun movie that all should see. It is timeless and a great piece of cinematic work. We dubbed out VHS to DVD and now working on enhancing the DVD file to Blu-Ray so we can dub it to that. Such a fun movie that can lift moods.


Before anyone asks, no I will not send anyone a copy. I pay for all music and movies I watch.

I have a a vhs copy of it with Japanese subtitles for the songs! LOL! Got it from a friend of mine who worked in the entertainment industry years ago. Anyway, I showed to my two girls for the first time last year and as soon as they heard Uncle Remus mention Brer Rabbit, they both shouted : "Hey, he's on Splash Mountain!" They loved the movie! I remember seeing it in the theater when I was little. Its a shame this won't be available for all to enjoy.

I just forwarded to the end and it looks like its all there; good quality too! This is great for anyone who has never seen this classic!

I just received the DVD as a gift. It was found in Savannah. It has been digitally remastered. It was put out by Cherokee Home Video. There are extras such as interviews and behind the scenes footage. Very cool!

I absolutely love this movie. It's one of my favorites from back in Walt's day.
