Something weird that I've noticed

Remember the merchandise they sold at the Disney parks that featured Mickey Mouse and friends as the characters? Mickey was Luke and Minnie was Leia.

And there was also a similar series of action figures involving the Muppets as Star Wars characters. Kermit was Luke and Piggy was Leia.

So, I’m guessing they either didn’t see “Return of the Jedi” or they just assumed that the majority of park-goers hadn’t?

Miss Piggy in the slave girl outfit, one can only dream.

This? Standard Leia not slave outfit. Whew!

Hubby is a big Star Wars fan and we were just at the parks last week and he was lamenting the fact that there isn't any more Star Wars merch with the Disney/Muppets characters. He liked the different figures and plushes. I thought it was cute too.

I would say you can't look too far into it. In a way, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and the Muppets are all actors too. Mickey has been cast in lots of different roles over the years (Jack and the Beanstalk, Prince and the Pauper, Sorcerer's Apprentice to name a few). So I guess you could look at it as Mickey and Minnie/Kermit and Miss Piggy are just playing the role of Luke and Leia.

Which I'm guessing means that it's THEM who haven't seen "Return of the Jedi".

Yeah, I know I'm looking too far into this, but this is the Internet. Looking too far into things is commonplace around here!

This past weekend I was in the art store in Disney Springs, next to Rainforest, and my daughter and I struck up a conversation with Greg McCullough. Besides being a fantastic illustrator, he's a very warm and kind man. Aside from the standard Disney characters in typical settings, he also does "mash up" type things like Donald Duck as Darth Maul. He said that he has up until a certain date (don't remember exactly, end of July-August maybe?) to sell his entire stock of Star Wars-Disney prints, the order from Lucasfilm (Kathleen Kennedy perhaps) was that all those type of creations were to cease, to "preserve the integrity" of the Star Wars characters. Don't think this is just a rumor, I've seen less and less of this and I actually happen to agree. But, anyway, I thought I'd pass on this interesting piece of info as it relates to the topic at hand.
