I may have had one too many homemade Trader Sam’s drinks last night but I just want to express my utter disgust with the humans and guests drawn in park concept art.

Just look at ‘em. Having so much fun, walking outside a new attraction with no crowds whatsoever. A handler-less character interacting with them.

Kids laughing coyly without breaking the rules. They point at random little details like it’s some big spectacle and guests actually appreciate the beauty and work that goes into the design of the parks, while in reality people take selfies, and yell, and complain, and wonder where to find Space Mountain as they’re walking thru Islands of adventure.

Disgusting. Ungrateful little 2-dimensional cut outs. I don’t know why...but whenever guests are drawn in concept artwork it just ticks. me. off.

have a magical day everyone. -Max

Just have to make it look like paradise. Wouldnt do otherwise. Which coincides with the Disney commercials of a perfect, uncrowded, get everything you want vacation with no stressed out families.
Doesn't that describe all advertisements and promotions though?

One thing I've noticed is they always seem to have their eyes closed at all times.

Which, I get it. You're in Florida. The sun can be intense. Without proper protective spectacles, it can be difficult to keep your eyes open with the constant solar glare from above. But eventually you're gonna have to see what you're doing. Does that father even realize his family left the store with a plush Beast instead of their 2-yr-old daughter, who they mistakenly left on the shelf? That mishap could've been avoided if their eyes weren't closed. Just saying.

Reminds me of before my first trip 10 years ago maybe. My wife was planning for a year, got the DVD and we watched it. One CM is telling a story about how a kid was taking a ride and asked a CM about a CM who worked on the ride from the day before, and the guy said I know him, hes my friend and the kid said hes my friend too. Was very sweet and I remembered it. But then we get the DVD the next year and they had a different CM tell the exact same story. I felt so dirty and used.

Anybody remember the commercial that ran a few years ago, where the happy family was entering their room in the Grand Floridian? Little boy opens up the curtains, sees a big beautiful Cinderella Castle, and goes "Ooooooohhhhh!!!" Never mind the fact that the view of the castle is better than you'd see from the Main Street Train Station. Talk aboutcher misleading ads!

The concept art is about as accurate as the pictures you see on the menu board in any fast food restaurant.
One of these days I am going to walk up to the counter and point to the menu board and say "I want one of those, and I WANT IT TO LOOK JUST LIKE THE ONE PICTURED!" I bet they couldn't do it if they tried....

YES!! You go into, lets say Burger King and see the whopper (just using them as an example, could be any FF), you see the ads on TV or the pix on the menu sign and the burger is piled high, lettuce and tomato visually attractive, cheese is melted and gooey and you say, "Yup! I'll have one of those!" You get your burger back to your seat and open the wrapper...not only isn't the cheese not melted, the burger looks like it was run over by a Sherman tank! It's called visual appearance and of course, they are spinning it to look appealing. I once saw a report about how food in ads are made to look much better that it actually is...Campbell's soup...you know how the Chunky soup looked so good in ads? They put marbles in the bowl!! If a prospective guest REALLY thinks that the parks will actually be as empty as the ads, I suggest looking up the word gullible in the dictionary!

Yes! It's called advertising, and it doesn't matter whether it's Burger King, or Campbell's Soup, or Disney World. As consumers, it's our job to be able to see through this. Come on people! There are some areas where I agree that we should hold Disney to a higher standard, but commercials, really? They're all basically fantasy, from cars to mascara to vacation destinations.

Did you ever watch how they make the food look like that? Trust me, you do NOT want to eat one of those burgers they take pictures of. Shoe polish, glue, motor oil, hair spray..... just a few of the tricks of the trade. We all know advertising is made up, scripted, and made to look better than it is, but sometimes it can really get you.

I got a few...

This girl in the Galaxys Edge ads..Just don't like how they use her in this..
disneyland-star-wars-galaxys-edge-are-you-ready-large-6.jpg

The Other is in the "I wish" ad where this odd force perspective shot of the cabin of a monorail somehow now INSIDE MK over in Tomorrowland....HOW?
walt-disney-world-i-wish-large-7.jpg

Guests who've never gone are going to be really dissapointed from that expectation vs reality moment..
