Something bad happened to my reservation!

I had to vent about what happened to my hotel reservation, so here it goes...

In Oct 2008 I booked reservations for Feb 13-21 for All Star Movies for myself, hubby, and two boys (2 & 5). My son will be turning 6 on Feb 13, and this is his favorite resort. In Nov, I rebooked with my travel agent to include the 4/3 deal. I was so happy! My sister-in-law also booked her trip for herself, her 4 kids, my mother-in-law and her best friend for the same dates and same resort so we can spend time together. The last time she was in Disney, as soon as she got there my father-in-law passed away so she had to turn around and go home immediately. This was in April 2008. This will be my mother-in-law's first vacation EVER, plus she is disabled. I paid for the remainder of the trip in Jan and picked up my vouchers and everything looked great. That is the background.

Well, a week ago I decided to add a day to my reservation so we arrive on Feb 12 so that we will have all day on Feb 13th at the parks (my son's birthday). I called my travel agent and he added the day and told me to come in to pick up the new vouchers. I went to the agency a couple of days later (Thur) and the vouchers said All Star Sports. I told the secretary there was a mistake (my agent wasnt in that day). She said there wasnt a mistake, when he rebooked in Nov he changed the resort probably due to availability. I argued that my sister-in-law booked in Dec under that deal and had no problems getting into All Star Movies. Plus I said my original vouchers from Jan were correct. She told me he printed them wrong and if I hadnt added the extra day I would never had known we were actually booked for All Star Sports because my original vouchers were wrong. I left fuming. The next day my agent called saying oops my bad, now there is no availability at All Star Movies to switch me over. Now, it is one thing if it was just me, my hubby, and kids (although they wont be thrilled looking at sports stuff and will cry about not seeing herbie, buzz and woody). But we are meeting several other family members. This is a really important trip and now everyone is mad at me because I recommended this agent (who I always book through). My agent said oops he was sloppy with the codes and he'll get back to me about trying to get us all together somewhere else. Of course I havent heard from him and he hasnt returned my calls. I am really mad, sad, frustrated all at the same time.

(Or course I am still happy just to be going and very grateful that I still have the opportunity. And embarrased to be complaining :o)

Hey there, I Am so sorry for your situation. I Agree people do make mistakes, but still. As others have mentioned other agencies may not be as familiar with Disney as you'd like. The people who frequent this site are VERY knowledgable and should expect the same from the agent they are dealing with. ALWAYS make sure you are using an Authorized Disney Vacation planner or an Earmarked agency. These agencies sell a LOT of Disney and Disney makes sure that we have special training to be more informed on the Disney products being offered than your average travel agent. Kingdom Konsultants is one of these agencies and I have met a few others that are just as good.
In regards to your situation, keep on top of your agent. People do cancel, change plans etc. Worst case you will be next door to your family in Disney. Have a great time on your trip!! Belle

Just a suggestion...What about a split reservation like 2 nights at Music and the rest at Movies? Have you tried that? There could be availability for something like that. At least you would be with the rest of your family for most of the vacation and they move all your luggage for you. Could be worth a try :shrug:Good Luck

If you do it yourself OR thru a travel agent, WHENEVER you make a change, no matter how small, ALWAYS ask for a full recap of the reservation - DON'T ASSUME that the correct change was made - and get it in writing if possible.

Like a previous poster said, at least you're in WDW.

When I saw the post was from NY, I just KNEW you were going to make a HUGE deal out of a minor mistake. Why don't you ask for an upgrade to a nicer hotel? Why don't you teach your kids to go with the flow? Like, if the economy were to tank and they lost a job?
I know! Being from NY, there ought to be a couple hundred shyster attorneys walking up and down the street....you could sue the travel agent for gross negligence and damage for your children. And you could sue disney for allowing this travesty of injustice to prevail. Probably get Schumer involved too.

Ummmm where exactly did the OP say anything about suing the agent? I could have missed it but I didn't see it anywhere. Others may have said to sue, but she never did. It seems that she just needed to vent about it and this would be a perfect place to do so. And she is rightfully upset over this issue. She even said she understands people make mistakes but that it is just frustrating. She stated that "This was a really stupid mistake but its just a trip! I'm thankful we can go on a trip, still have our home, and my husband is still employed."

Angry at New Yorkers much? Your post is totally uncalled for.

Give me a break, you are going to wdw and will probably have a great time in the parks. How much time will you really be at the hotel anyways, just forget about it till you get back and enjoy your trip and dont take everyone down with you.

Thanks for noticing the anger for NY also and suprisingly angry at me also! I didnt bother responding to that post. I'm actually an upstater, which is like another planet from NYC. Thanks for pointing out I never said I would sue! Thats insane!!

I'm really not even upset anymore. I never displayed anger to my agent, just hubby :ROFLOL:. My kids don't even know about this situation and I cant wait to go on our trip! I was upset when I wrote the original post, and I felt a little better knowing it hasnt just happened to me.

Thanks for co-miserating with me. Im ok now :). Actually Im better than OK! Im GREAT...Im going to the world in 13 days!

Have fun. It could be a blessing in disguise.

Sometimes a little distance from your travel companions can be a GOOD thing.

Sorry you are having to change resorts but atleast you will have an extra day. That will be worth it I am sure. I stayed at All-Star Sports Jan. 1 - 10th and enjoyed my time there. I am usually at Pop but my annual passholder discount only had availiable rooms at Sports. I was a little dissapointed at the time but couldn't have cared less once I got there. It will probably be the same for you and your family. Have a great trip and say hi to Mickey for me!
