Some questions on visiting DLP

So this is the first ever Disney holiday I’ve had to organise since having kids, and, not gonna lie, I’m petrified of getting it wrong. I’ve been before many years ago as a young adult but I was a lot more carefree, and the world, and technology, has moved welllll on.

I have a few questions, and if anyone has the time to answer them I’d be so so so grateful. Some are a little specific, so please do tolerate my whims.

1. Tickets. I’m getting the Eurostar from London. Do we get given tickets before we leave or do we receive them at the hotel?
2. I see you can link tickets to your phone. Does your phone then become the ticket? I.e. it becomes a barcode or QR code?
3. We were planning to use the fast food places for both lunch and evening meals to try and save money to put towards other things. Is that a ‘thing’ that others do?
4. We have registered our hotel stay on the app and it offers us restaurants to book in advance. Rainforest is not one of these. Is that likely because it’s booked up already, because it’s not available to book yet, or it’s a ‘turn up and see’ place?
5. We are staying at the Seqoia Lodge. Someone said that there isn’t many plug/charging points. Anyone know if that’s an actual trust?
6. When I did my booking I did not get offered Disney Express to book. Is this essential? We arrive at the train station just after check-in, so probably wouldn’t bother to buy Express and just try and check-in first thing and then head to the parks, but what do other folks likely do?
7. What do other Brits use to pay? Simply Euros? Or is there any form of top-up card or Disney currency that can be Purchased?

1. What exactly do you mean by that? You get the park tickets when checking in at your hotel.
2. I don’t know about day tickets but if you have a combined hotel stay you get a card which functions as both the room key and the theme park tickets.
3. Of course, many people do that. Keep in mind though that some fast food places close early and make use of the click & collect feature (basically mobile order) in the app to save some time
4. Since rainforest cafe isn’t operated by Disney you can’t make reservations in the app. They probably have their own website where you can make reservations or you could just give them a call.
5. From what I can recall there are indeed not that many charging points (I think two on the dresser opposite to the beds and one next to the door). Also keep in mind that the power sockets are different than in the UK.

I don’t have an answer for the other two questions but you can pay by card (i.e. visa) almost everywhere.

I hope that helps and enjoy your trip :)

To add;

1 Eurostar - you mean your park tickets? See number 2. Also you know Eurostar isn’t direct anymore due to Brexit? You have to change trains.

2 The tickets. You can do a lot of the check in information on the app from 7 days before you arrive (information you’d otherwise physically write down at reception). Once done you’ll be able to use the app as your park tickets, you also get physical tickets at check in at the hotel - this is your magic pass. It’s the style of a credit card. Everyone gets one and it is your room key and park admission.

3. Yep. No shame in that and there’s varied menu and well themed quick serve restaurants around the resort. It’s not just burgers.

4. As said, Rainforest is walk up only.

5. Sequoia is a lovely resort. To address the problem of lack or power points they’ve added power hubs to rooms; see my video tour here. Sequoia starts at 42:50

again as mentioned, to use a wall outlet you’ll need a European adapter. 2 round pins.

6. You should be able to add Disney Express if you want it on the website. For an additional charge you leave your bags at the desk in the station and do the check in process there. Arriving by train, you can either do that, walk your cases to the hotel through the Village, or get the free hotel bus from outside the train station with your luggage.

7. Euros cash and debit/credit cards are accepted. We use a prepaid charge card from FairFX and recommend it. Preload it before travelling and use it as a Mastercard debit card in the resort including contactless. You can use their app to check the balance or add more funds if needed.

At hotel Cheyenne there was 1 UK power outlet in my room. Which I was very thankful for!
Originally lack of outlets in all the rooms at DLP was quite the talking point. Over the last 5 years they've been adding more sockets or USB hubs to the resorts - I think Santa Fe is the last to be done. Thankfully there’s a match of types - including UK! Glad you seemed to enjoy your trip BTW 👋
