We always have flags here....my parents had taken down the American flag before they left because the one that was up was torn in a bad storm the day before.... I had to wait for them to come back because I couldn't find the others! It's a good feeling to drive through the neighborhood and see so many, though....

Every time we visit the USA I am always overwhelmed by the feelings of patroism that are displayed there and at times makes me feel a little ashamed that we in England do not display our national flags and play our anthem as you do. Displays of patriosm in England usually only accompany disaster. Even on Saint George's day very few English flags fly, never mind union jacks. The Irish, Scottish and Welsh make a better display than the English but the United Kingdom collectively puts on a very poor display and could do with taking lessons from our American cousins.

hear hear

the majority of english football fans get looked at like they're nutters when they proudly show off the St Georges flag - quite sad really - and I'm not referring to the hooligans either!!

I saw on the news today that here in the Chicago area where I live, there is such a big American Flag shortage that some people are STEALING other peoples flags and displaying them on their own houses.

It's not really very funny, but it does show how patriotic we are here these days.
