Some "Frozen" Tidbits

If you see some of my posts here, you know im first and foremost a mechanical guy. But in truth, im really into movie production as well. At my current employer(wont name them), I'm working my way into the technical department to work on effects and such. My fiancee, is very into movies and production and we saw a friend of hers this weekend(stuff for "big day" planning). And I was able to pick up some tid bits on WDAS's "Frozen" aka The Snow Queen.

1. I was told, as I believed to be true before, the title is Frozen not really to get boys in the seats, but because of story reasons. The most prominent reason is that The Snow Queen character is not the primary focus of the film. She is the main antagonist but she is not the Main Character. The other major reason is a thematic one. According to my "source", the film will play up the emotions of the heart. Let me explain what that means. The story is about the warmth of love and the coldness and hate. Ever hear the phrase "you have a cold heart" before? That's exactly what this is about.

SPOILER ALERT: IF YOU DONT KNOW THE SNOW QUEEN OR WHAT HAPPENS IN THE STORY AND DONT WANT TO KNOW AND BE SURPRISED, SKIP THIS. Highlight below if you want the info. Ill make it white so its harder to read if you dont wanna see it.

In the story, the main male character Kay has pieces of a trolls mirror get into both his heart and his eyes. His attitude changes. He goes from a nice guy to hateful and cruel person. So thematically speaking, his heart is now cold; or "Frozen".

2. Last our friend has heard, Alan Menken is still supposed to be doing the music. Who's doing lyrics? No one knows. Id bet that itd be Glen Slater since he's worked with him on Tangled and Mermaid(Broadway).

3. This will be 3D CGI and it may be one of the most beautiful looking films in quite some time.

There's some updates from now till 2013. Not that we wont hear more about the film between now and then. Just some early info from someone who's close to that kinda stuff.

Hmm.... I don't like the sound of that title. Titles like "Frozen" and "Tangled" give off a silly sort of vibe, and are also pretty unimaginative. But Tangled was much better than its title suggested. Is this movie going to have more of an epic scale, like the older animated movies?

I was under the impression that Frozen would be traditionally animated. That's the report I read on Rotten Tomatoes. Have there been any recent changes?

It may not be the most original title. But it's alright. When Tangled was being made everyone dogged the movie cause of its title. And then it was released an most people went Wow this is great. Everyone had been so focused on the title they forgot about the movie. Same thing will happen this time. People will go on about this title and then the movie comes out and they go wow it's great.

Movie is going to be different. It will no doubt have some comedic moments. Silly kind of characters to be sure. But, by the nature of the story, it will also have a dark side to it. I actually see this as being something quite dramatic and emotional. Because it is about love vs hate. Kindness vs cruelty. Warmth vs cold. So I dramatic would be a better word then epic.

Apparently they decided the world, especially the frozen landscapes would look better in CGI

Kristen Bell has been cast as the lead roll; NOT THE SNOW QUEEN HERSELF.

She will in fact play the role of the lead heroine.

I agree these singular named titles are going to get out of hand. Next thing will see is Hungry or Coughing:brick:

Kristen did a great job as Cora in the very underrated movie "Astro Boy".

But I'm a bit worried...if she's voicing Gerda, then how old is Gerda? In the Hans Christian Anderson story she's just a child. She was a child in the Russian movie version of Snow Queen too. I hope Disney's not planning to turn Gerda into a teen or something. That could destroy the charm of that character IMO.

Oh well, wait and see...
