Some decent news about fall discounts.

I just got off the phone with WDW. They told me that they're releasing pins August 3rd. The one I'm getting is room only 35% off Deluxe. 25% off value or moderate. I know a lot of people, like me, have been waiting to book....though it's still not free dining.

Speaking of pins, Disney should just ditch the "bounceback" program. It really is useless. In July, they only have dates for the rest of 2011. Hello - Some people do plan their vacations more than 5 months in advance.

The whole purpose of the bounceback promotions are to entice you to take that second trip in the next few months. You are there and high on pixie dust. What better time for Disney to dangle a carrot.

The very first bounce back we took advantage of was in 8/09 and it was for the following year in August. Then the bounce back for 8/10 was only for the rest of 2010, which did us no good for 2011. But shortly after we got back free dining for 8/11 came out and we book late 8/10 for this coming trip in 21 days. Then in 1/11 they came out with 35% which in a deluex saved us more money then free dining. So like everything else Disney is slowly changing the way discounts work and when they release them.

How do you get called for pins? Do you have to stay for a long vacation? I go every year for a couple nights since I am local, but never get sent offers.

From what I have seen and personally experienced those who go less frequently seem to get them. Like you, I am there quite frequently as are many of my friends and collectively we never see them. Which kind of makes sense when you think about it. They are there to get people that would normally not go to WDW to plan a trip. They know we are coming.

Best to my knowlege there is no set schedule to PIN CODES...we have been going for 14 years and we just started getting them in the past year and half. The only thing you can do is call Disney reservations and ask them if you have any discounts attached to your name. They will not offer the info but if you ask they will tell you!!!

That makes sense. I think they should have some sort of last-minute weekend deals type of thing for Florida residents when the resorts are not full by Friday for example. I don't know how they would organize that since they'd have to do it in a way that would not prevent locals from making reservations, but it would be nice and they would pull in more money.

I go a lot and have received only one or pins. My husband has never planned a trip and gets pins all the time. I have a client who goes every other year and she's been booked since March and has had at least one pin a month since then. None for her dates, however.

It seems to be almost as random as their computer system going down for "enhancements"!

I get a pin emailed to me every 4 months almost on the nose. You can just call the planning line and ask if there's a pincode attached to your name. I've had one some attached to me and I never got it via email or postal mail.

That would explain why we used to get them but stopped getting them. :(
