solo trip question!

if you go on a ride that only holds 2-3 people (like most of the dark rides or buzz/tsm).. will they let you ride alone? The thought of going on, say, Haunted Mansion, sitting next to a stranger just makes me uncomfortable haha.

Also, what about rides that have alot of people, but only 2-3 people per row (like its a small world), will they let me have my own row? ;)

in my experience, for attractions where the row is only supposed to hold 2-3 people (pooh, mansion, SE, buzz, snow white, peter pan) they'll let you have the row to yourself. for attractions like BTMR or splash, they'll either let have the row to yourself or seat you with the odd member out of a party of 3 (or 5, etc) depending on how busy it is and how good the person who is doing the grouping is. for attractions that have larger rows that can comfortably seat a party of 4 (small world, pirates, kilimanjaro safaris), most likely you will be seated with another group of 2, again given the size of the crowds at that time. an odd attraction is TTA where i've always had my own car even as a party of 1. when traveling by yourself, be sure to keep your ears open for cast members calling out for any single riders or parties of 2 especially in ToT, TSM, Space Mtn, and any other stop-and-load attraction that does not have a single rider line; I've managed to shave a lot of time off my wait because I was paying attention.

I've spent some time touring alone, even on family trips and the previous poster is spot on. Vehicles that seat 2 or 3 will be all yours (like Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, etc). Rides with larger rows, like the boats on small world or pirates will depend on crowds. Many times I have been allowed to have my own row but sometimes I am put with another group of 2 if I am alone. The only you are basically guaranteed to sit next to someone is if you use a single rider line because then you are just filling in an odd groups space. More awkward for them in my opinion though lol.

I did this on my last trip. It really cuts down on time! I actually ended up with an entire car for snow white since the two groups behind me filled the cars. That was a bit awkward, lol. But it was fun! So just remember to have fun!

Once I had a Test Track car all to myself. Not a row, the whole car! The belt check CM said "How did that happen?" Kind of embarrassing.

If you go to a sporting event you can sit next to a stranger for hours so sitting next to another Disney fan for a 5 minute ride shouldn't be to bad.

i've never done wdw solo but we've run into solo travelers quite a few times. on rides sometimes they've sat with us...test track and rnr for example, others like thunder mountain a gentleman was in the seat behind us alone. i think it just depends on the ride. i wouldn't think a ride like haunted mansion or buzz would have you ride with a stranger. when i was with a group of 3 we did tsm and they did one side with 2, the other single.

It really does depend. On the bigger, busier rides - mainly rollercoasters - you probably will get seated next to someone. I've never been paired up on Splash, though. It's mainly the coasters.

On the other rides, smaller dark rides, etc. you'll either get your own row, or at least your own "space". Sometimes, your own vehicle (I went on POTC completely alone last month - something I've done before - and it's creepy and fun).

Best guess is just go with the flow. I've been to all the parks (Uni and WDW) solo many times, and I can think of exactly twice I've felt weird. Once was on TT when a family seemed a little preplexed why they put me in the car (someone said, "Well I guess he's in our family now" - in an odd way, not especially welcoming, and I just smiled and didn't really say anything and went on the ride). The other thing was on Kali - they put me with a family in a raft, and they sat me next to the tiny wife and we had to share a seatbelt. That was just...odd. The husband and wife looked at each other for a sec, shrugged, and we just went for it.

In both cases (out of the 100's and 100's of times I've gone on rides solo), it wasn't that big of a deal even when it was a little weird. Most people just go with the flow. :)

(Although it is one of the times I wish I had a tattoo on my forehead that said, "Hey, I'm gay" - kind of like when I'm at a teenybopper concert - I always get sat on roller coasters with young girls and I want to be like - no, if I smile and say hello I am not hitting on you, haha.)

Like others have already said it depends a bit on the demand for the ride and the layout of the vehicle.

So high demand attractions like Test Track, Expedition: Everest, and Rock N Rollercoaster you can bet on being paired up.

Other attractions like Star Tours, Soarin', Tower of Terror, and Mission:Space have layouts that aren't conducive to your typical single rider so you'll end up next to others.

Splash and Big Thunder tend to break the mold a bit, in that singles usually get their own seat but if they're super busy they might try pairing you up. If it's really an issue just ask the CM if you can have your own seat, they're usually very accommodating.

On the boat attractions you'll most likely get your own row. Most dark rides are somewhat seat yourself, in that once you've sat in a doom buggy, Peoplemover car, or the like it's highly doubtful the next person behind you boarding is going to climb in with you, they'll just take the next available car.

wow thanks for all the responses!! i feel a little bit better now. i dont have a problem sitting with a group, or even another person in a ride like a rollercoaster - but sitting alone in a car in a dark ride with a stanger is what was mainly creeping me out...so good to hear that probably wont happen haha :)

also to whoever said you go to a sporting event and sit next to a stranger - thats a little different, you are sitting next to thousands of strangers! hehe the more people - the less ackward. the less people - the more i think you feel like you have to chit chat
