Unfortunately, Most teenagers these days are VERY disrespectful!

I have to agree. I am a teenager...this is ALL I see now-adays. I guess this is why I love Disney so much, because it's in total contrast....but I don't know if it's gonna stay that way.. :(

I am honored to know several teenagers out there on the forums...who have proved to me that some of us do have respect, patience, generosity, morality, consideration, modesty, and toleration! Big Al's Gal, Erica, Nimajneb...the list goes on!!! :sohappy:

:( I agree with (#1) ... Unfortunately, most teens these days have misconceptions and utilize them improperly for apparent self-gain while in fact deliberately trying to destroy the very morals of the country and of human nature in general. :(

Well, we're all children at heart....

I'd just be hit on the head with a book if I said that at school....heaven forbid we all be children! :p

I just hate seeing people chew gum against the rules (and put it in places like my LUNCHBOX), throw books at people, run around cursing and out of dress code, cheating...and criticizing others because they don't do...certain...things....:lookaroun

I dare say, I'm one of the very few people at my school who has never cursed...except for that one time I had to ask my mom what that word was in a chatroom about 5 years ago!

Its always hard to deal with generalizations such as this. Its like saying every american is a jingoistic twit.

Personally, i don't think most teenagers are disrespectful. Lots are, but not most.

I'd have to agree it's those many that give us teenagers a bad rep. It drives me crazy when someone tries to copy my work or something. I just want to be like "I study why don't you give it a try?" or something a long those lines. But I'll agree that there are many people in my grade that really get on my nerves. They just act stupid more often then not.(sorry just needed to vent a little:p )

anyway, we have some pretty bad people and than nice ones. Most of what you hear on the news is the bad. Media has something to do with this. Every generation think the generation after is bad. But most of us will grow up and behave like good little boys and girls. That's why i can't wait to go to college because of inmature people, clicks (gorups) of people that hate other people without knowing them, etc.

P.S.---TEENS ON THIS FORUM WILL NOT GROW UP BECAUSE OF OUR LOVE FOR DISNEY.

Manners vary greatly between countries, regions, ethnic groups families, generations etc. The manners of a 1950's Topeka housewife would be considered absolutely barbaric by someone from Victorian London.

When talking with someone who has manners that differ from mine, I make an effort to understand their system and avoid offending them. It's just as important (if not more) to avoid being offended by someone whose system differs from mine.

I would consider a typical teenager's manners different from mine, and I would also understand that a teenager is going to be less experienced, socially, than me. I have to take the greater weight of responsibility when dealing with a teenager.

I don't want to lump everyone together also. It's not fair. In some ways the teens of today are so together and mature, and other situations it's the opposite. But I can look back on things I did and I just shake my head....What Was I Thinking??? I think respect is important, on both sides (teens and non teens).

I think media is also a good thing to blame in this case. Just look what is on TV...look at those people valued...it's so materialistic! :brick: :brick:
