You would think they would put some cash into that, but I don't think it is forthcoming. The ride does so well as it is, that I don't think they see the need for change yet.
I would hope that Soarin' over Florida or Soarin' over the wonders of the US would be next. But we've discussed it a bit here before, and people have lots of opinions on it.
I would love to see Soarin' over all the countries that are in the WS. I think that would be awesome. Personally I'd love to see the Eiffel Tower and a field of lavender in the movie.
I love Soarin' but I'm not riding it again until they replace the film with a HD video version or 3D. It is painful to see all the scratches and dirt, it really takes you out of the ride.
If they intend to keep it part of The Land pavilion then it should have appropriate theming. The natural settings of something like the "Disney Earth" movie would be awesome. Just flying over some of the most beautiful natural settings on earth would be a winner IMO. And hopefully entirely in digital so they don't have problems with scratches etc.
Ultimately, a second Soarin' in WS that features some of the great cultural sites would also be a winner and help with wait times at Epcot. (If they can have two circlevision venues....) Perhaps the cost for the films could be split with OLC and/or the new park in China.
I think Soarin' over California in DCA is a perfect fit theme-wise. That film should stay the way it is.
Since Soarin' is located in the Land Pavillion, something with that theme would be great. Flying over beautiful natural wonders like the Grand Canyon and other . . . land-ish things.
Not exactly sure how good this would be but it might be cool if they splashed you underwater and flew you through underwater canyons or reefs. This would only be a short part of the movie in my minds eye to keep it from stepping into the Living Seas theme but then they could launch up out of the water and over the Statue of Liberty or something dramatic like that.
Just a few thoughts after a few beers on the couch on a Friday:slurp::hammer:
