Soarin'

This may be something I missed. Is Soarin' going to be like that of the California Adventure or will it be a trip over Florida.
When I'm in Florida I want to see Florida, if I want see to California I'll go to California.[j/k]
Just wondering if I understood correctly.

They are using the same film as the one in California.

I know that it stinks, but it costs a lot of money to make a new film, but I think they will have a new one by 2007 or 2008.

The reason officially given is that each theme park in WDW is "importing" an attraction from another Disney park around the world in honor of Disneyland's 50th anniversary: Epcot gets "Soarin'" from California Adventure, Disney-MGM will have the auto stunt show from Disneyland Paris, the Magic Kingdom adapts a Cinderella stage show from Tokyo Disneyland, and the Animal Kingdom will get Lucky the Dinosaur (also from DCA).

As for a new film, no offense to Floridians, but I'm hoping for more than "Soarin' Over Florida." Florida has a lot to offer, but I'm not sure it can compete visually from the air with the vistas California has. I'm hoping for a "Soarin' Over America," with highlights of the cities and landscapes across the U.S.

Thanks for the answers. The Soarin over America would be a great attraction. It offers something for everybody from everywhere.

Are the other parks doing the samething with the attractions from other parks?

I agree. As a lifetime Florida resident I can say that most of Florida is not very visually interesting, or just plain ugly. Basically the whole film would have to focus on costal areas.

Yes, it is terrible that there will be no new film, but I understand the reasons.
I've heard of a new film in 2007 for someone's (somewhere's) birthday
If you've never been on Soarin', you'll love it. Soarin' is the best ride ever built, and totally unique (which is different for DCA)

considering that this attraction will be in the "land" pavilion, I think that an appropriate film would be soarin' over the world.
There are so many neat things in other parts of the world that would be great to incorporate. That being said, I also believe this would be great for the Travel company theme.

Disneyland will be getting Buzz from MK and a new Space that's kinda like the one at Disneyland Paris. Tokyo is supposed to get ToT.

I've never been on it and I can't understand what is so good about it. I don't mean that rudely, I just have no idea what to expect from it. I don't understand how sitting in an IMAX-ish theatre on benches that barely move is so great. To me it just sounds the same concept as Back to the Future at Universal but with rows of benches instead. Can someone explain why this is better than any other simulator?

How many rows of "benches" are there and is it like BttF where it is a lot of "vehicles" in the room you just can't see them? I saw a picture where it only had two benches but I didn't know if that was just a diagram showing how it worked or not. It seems like the lines would be crazy long with only two rows.

What, you don't find the Florida turnpike visually appealing?:p

Florida has a large amount of coastal areas, as well as hundreds of small islands off the coast that could be explored in the soarin movie. I'm sure the subject matter is there, but as someone else said, the cost to make another movie is too high. High enough to where the financial morons up at WDC just can't justifiy it.
Its kinda sad though! I like the idea of seeing California in the soarin attraction, but I also think its cheap for Disney to recyle the ride in its entirety, rather than make a new unique version for WDW.

I agree, I think that a soarin' over the world film would go nicely with the world showcase aspect of epcot.

I, too, would like to see a Sorin' Over America movie....and in keeping with how the current CA version works, start the trip at Disneyland in CA and travel across the country and end the trip at Disney World.

How is it better? Hard to explain...it just is. No other ride gives you the same sense of flying that Soarin' does, the film and music are fantastic, the ride system unique...all of that.

As for seating, there are three sections, each with three rows of seats.
When you rise up at the beginning, the front row goes to the top, the back is on the bottom, etc. You are all in the same room, of course, but you don't really notice the other rows unless you look for them. On your first ride, you won't be looking at anything but the screen.

Here is a decent shot of the seats ready to be boarded.

One of the keypoints in Soarin' is the use of "smellavision". Each part of CA had a different smell. Oranges, pine, ocean and, desert. What smells would Soarin' over FL or even the world have hmm? :veryconfu

It makes sense not to use a new film. Why create a new film right away when you can use the original. Not only does it save money off the cost to build the attractions but when they to make a new film both DCA and EPCOT will benefit from getting a new film. It is basicly getting two attractions out of one.

Well, to me, they really shouldn't begin construction on a whole new attraction and tear up a whole pavillion unless they have the budget to make a completely new attraction. What's the point in giving The Land a 180 if you don't have it in the budget to make it all new??

They don't HAVE THE MONEY. I would agree if they were building this in Disneyland across the esplanade, but this is thousands of miles away.

Because Future World is set up where there is only 1 chance of a rehab every 10 years. If that window for the rehab is missed, then it is nearly impossible for anything to happen until another 10 years come by. There are exceptions but this is a chance to add something great.

Just compare Soarin' to a modern version of the Circlevision. It will most likely be updated every decade or so with a new film to keep lines long.
