so will it be open on the 15th? we were thinking of going down the 15th, 16th and 17th. if it is, it will seal the deal.
Yep, AP previews are the 15-17th of April. Just show your pass at the entrance to the ride.

Thanks for the heads up! This is one of the things I'm looking forward to the most about the 50th Celebration! I can't wait to hear or see what Patrick Warburton does during the attraction. I mean come on The Tick at Epcot, it really doesn't get much better than that does it? The man is a deadpan genius. Having never been to Cali Adventure I don't know what to expect, but I'm still very excited about Soarin' coming to Epcot. Much needed life to a side of that park that was virtually dead. Can't wait to smell the oranges!

"Puddy" is actually comical in the preshow, but it works well. I agree that all of the elements together make this a great attraction. The queue at Epcot is awesome, with touches of different airports around the world (blue laser lights = O'Hare). The preshow screams airport safety video, while the ride itself is accentuated by the musical score, the wind and scents. My test group cheered wildly when the final Disneyland scene started, and again when the ride was over, and most of us got right back in line to do it again!
Not sure if anyone mentioned it before, but CMs are saying the que is the 2nd longest at WDW (next to Space Mountain) and is being built to hold a 3 hour wait! Thankfully there are single rider and fastpass options. Even though it is a great attraction, 1 hour let alone 3 would be far too long of a wait for me. I'm just looking forward to doing it multiple times during AP preview weekend!

One question though-- is the preshow at WDW identical to the DCA version? I figured it was, but at the beginning and end, Patrick stands in front of a background with the WDW Soarin' logo on it. Not sure if it's new, or some computer editing.

^^I believe they actually reshot the scenes that refer to Epcot's version as "Soarin'" vs the original "Soarin' over California".

Oh yeah, and the pre-show guy toally snaps me out of their theming, because all I can think of is Family Guy :)

All my younger sister said during the pre-show while I was at DCA the other day was "Look, it's Joe Swanson!"

I rode "Soarin" in DL a couple years ago and I don't want to say that it wasn't cool, because it was, but I wasn't ready to "go on" it again after. For some reason it just didn't do much for me. The concept of the movement with the movie the way it is was pretty incredible but I don't know if I'd wait more than 15-30 minutes to go on it. Does anyone else feel like this? I mean, Soarin is definately something cool for Disney to add to Epcot, but I feel like it's being a little over-hyped, that's all.

You're not the only one. I think it's a fun ride but it isn't what everyone makes it out to be. I'll ride it once during the AP Preview, but after that I surely won't ride it during every trip to the park.

Nah...I won't kill ya...
However, I will disagree. After my wife and I first rode Soarin at DCA we immediately looked at each other and said "Again!", and proceeded to ride it about 5-6 times that day.

Can't explain exactly why....but I love that ride, and so will guests at Epcot.

My wife and I had the exact same reaction after riding it in DCA.
I'm looking forward to this addition in EPCOT. This will be my alternative to M:S as far as motion simulators go, as I'm not a big fan of M:S.

We're cleared for take-off...

i can't wait for this ride soarin in epcot. i need to know that soarin will have a single riders in this ride.

Yes Jeanylaser, it does have a single riders line (making Epcot the continued king of rides with single rider lines!)

Soarin' is one of my favorite attractions in any Disney park. It is a welcome addition to EPCOT. I'm also not a fan of Mission:Space (it made me very ill!), so while my family is riding M:S I'll be Soarin'

Patrick does the preshow there also. I'm guessing it took you out of the mood too? Just curious.

Ya know - You got me. I don't remember him or any of the preshow from DCA. But that was a few years ago. DCA had only been open for three weeks (and man, the park was empty). Probably at that time I wasn't so familiar with Warburton.

The preshow is done humorously?

Expect to see Patrick in more places with Disney...

He's in the Magic of Disney Animation, Soarin', and they're making the tv show and the sequel to "The Emperor's New Groove."

I can't wait until the CM preview on 4/9/05 to see it. It sounds way cool! I wonder if they saved money by using the old Horizons orange smell machines?

Just announced today, Soarin' will have Epcot Cast previews on April 7, which is one day before the general cast previews start. The Epcot cast will be allowed to ride the attraction in their respective costumes but only on the 7th.
