"Soarin" show building

I looked at the new photos added recently showing the show building for Soaring. The building is HUGE. But there is a problem.

The photo, as the caption indicates, is visible from all around the World Showcase. I would hope that some tall trees or something would be placed between the view of the building and the World Showcase soon. The buildings in each country we scaled down but built to give the appearence of being bigger. Seeing the Hotel Frantinac (sp) in Canada against a blue sky makes the building look bigger than it really is. But now there will be a huge show building behind it causing it to look like a dollhouse.

Does anyone else see this and think that maybe they should look into fixing the problem? What are your ideas about things like this? Maybe this should have been in the Imagineering area but I though I would start here.

It's still pretty early in construction, I'm sure they've got some sort of master plan concerning concealing the Soarin' show building. Maybe, it's just going to look like what it is, an expansion of The Land w/o any type of concealment. Concealment is a word right?

Good idea. I just hope they try to do something to hide it from view.

I was at Epcot this past weekend (I made an unplanned weekend visit to Disney to see family) and took the Segway tour...VERY cool by the way (if you have any questions about it, I would be more than happy to answer them)...and we took a ride around World Showcase before it opened to the public.

Anyway, yes, the Soarin' building is MASSIVE. It completely towers over Canada from nearly every angle around World Showcase. It is MUCH bigger than I thought it would be. I figured they might do something to help hide it beyond just painting it some light color. But I don't know for sure. As it being the newest thing...I kept staring at it as we circled around WS but then I started to notice how at some areas, Test Track's building appears to tower over Mexico and at some angles and The Imagination Pyramids tower over Canada and UK buildings at some angles. I actually never noticed how you could see those buildings before...probably because I wasn't looking for it.

However, the Soarin' building is quite conspicuous right now. There are several options I could see them doing to "hide" the building. 1)Paint it blue with clouds...like at the end of the Hollywood Pictures Backlot at DCA. 2) Paint it green and place tree facades...like that seen with the Indy show building at Disneyland. 3) Hide it with some fake mountains.

Personally...my favorite choice would be to give the Canadian pavilion a new mountain backdrop. It would look nice....but I don't know if they planned for that or not. Hopefully they realized how big this buidling was going to be in the Skyline at Epcot. It really can't be seen from within Future World....but it can be seen from most of World Showcase....and even outside the park....if you go to the Beach Club's parking lot you can see the top of it over the trees.

Okay, as for hiding it...i dont know....because if you think about it, they didn't really hide the beach club villas or the swan and dolphin, those are both quite visible from within world showcase and all they do is just turn down the lighting for illuminations...

secondly, this may have already been answered, but looking at the teaser posters around the land....Is it gonna be called "Soarin' over California" or simply, "SOARIN'"?

It was announced as Soarin' over California (which it will be a clone of), but all recent references to it...from the two large posters in The Land to the plaque at The Green Thumb emporium explaining that "due to construction of the new attraction, Soarin', the behind the seeds tour will not be done today (or along those lines) to the directional sign that you first see when entering The Land to the answers from CM's who I overheard answering a guest's question as to what that building was....everything has referred to it as simply "Soarin' ". So my guess is...its gonna be called simply "Soarin' ".

Probably going to be something like Soarin' over Florida... or perhap Soarin' over America.

The film, from all accounts at Disney, will be an exact clone of the California film...with the possible change of ending over WDW instead of DL (I guess so we can fly back 'home' ) I can say with almost 100% certainty it will NOT be over solely Florida ever (Florida doesn't have enough interesting terrain). And at least for now, it will not be over America, just California for a several years or until/if they decide to change the film.

However, I imagine to help prevent constant questioning from guests as to why is it only over California they are dropping the Cali part from the name. Honestly, besides the glimpses of the Golden Gate Bridge and one or two other landmarks....you really could pass the rest off as being from a lot of different places around America....that is one reason why California's landscape is so intriguing...the topography covers everything from Redwood forests to deserts to oceans to mountains to grassy plains...you name it they probably have some version of it. That is why I think its ok to actually go ahead and just "clone" this ride with the same film.

Anyways (back to the original purpose of the thread :animwink: ), I really hope they just don't paint the building like the one in CA. That would look real bad against the backdrop of Canada. And i know you can see the Swan & Dolphin from Wrold Showcase but they are far off in the distance unlike the massive building hovering over Canada.
