More Soarin' and Land pavilion rumors
There are a few rumor starting to emerge regarding the opening of Soarin' in The Land pavilion next year. We hear that the entire Land pavilion closes in January to finish the connections to the new attraction while reworking the lower level of the pavilion. The pavilion reopens with updated decor, along with the new attraction, in March of 2005. While the Sunshine Season Food Fair food court is said to be remaining, the seating area is expected to be condensed to allow for crowds at the attraction's entrance and exit, as well as the Fastpass distribution area, which will supposedly eliminate the far right portion of the food window area.

The attraction entrance will be via a long corridor, with an entrance where the old Green Thumb Emporium stood, and the exit will be through a large post-show/gift shop where the Food Rocks theater used to be.

What does Soarin' have to do with 'Land' anyway? Aside from flying over it, of course. ;)

It is supposed to inspire people to be enviromentally conscience by viewing the magnificent land that Earth has and should never be taken away. City part, I don't know.

Anyway, is green thumb on the top or bottom floor? If it were on top, then the bottom floor wouldn't really get crowded and the top could stay open just by the catwalks being extended out a foot or two.

Anyway, when the pavilian gets revamped, I hope to see less of the 80's Grey Concrete future and more of Trees and stuff like at animal knigdom. I would love it if the whole pavilian interior were covered with vines and other plant life.

Green Thumb is on the bottom floor, right next to the former Food Rocks entrance. It is a tiny store, and I am trying to imagine that being the entrance for Soarin'.

I'm very happy to hear that the Sunshine Season Food Fair is to be remained open, but does anyone have any idea of just how many changes will be occuring in the Land as far as theming and decor goes?

I hope that it doesn't change drastically... :(

We're getting SOARIN' OVER CALIFORNIA - with possible editing to land at Walt Disney World, but this part has been unconfirmed.

While MousePlanet is very reputable, we are all still in the rumor stage. I hope MousePlanet (and its very good WDW editor ;) ) is right that the Food Fair is staying, but over anything else, I hope the peaceful atmosphere remains. This could be done with an updating - easily - but we need to "keep the peace!" :)

Thank you!

Anytime I have been to eat in the Land it has always been very crowded. It seems that by taking away part of the seating area it will become impossible. It's not like you can get your food there and take it anywhere else to eat.

If the Green Thumb Emporium is not going to be there anymore, are they still going to run the Walking Tour of the Greenhouses? That's a great tour! Very informative and Low Cost.

But the exit they used to get out of the Land Building and into the Greenhouse was the door at the back of the Emporium.

Thanks!!

Yeah, Mark is usually pretty accurate.
Well...except about a month ago when he (on a tip from Mike S.) reported that we were getting Soarin' over the US or something. :animwink:

Just kiddin' around Mark...Mouseplanet rocks.

We aren't really losing the Green Thumb...it's being absorbed by Soarin's gift shop (Flight Traders or whatever creative name they come up with :)) As for Sunshine Season--just as I had speculated, cutting it roughly in half and using the right side for Fastpass :) I might expect a name change, though...perhaps not, but I def. wouldn't be surprised by one.

It would make no sense to get rid of the largest food place in Epcot, especially when there would be NO FOOD on that side of the park! Only other place if that closes would be the Electric Umbrella! I also hope they update that fountain a bit, I love it, but it needs to be freshened up a bit. I also would imagine that they would do some heavy construction to get a better guest flow down to the lower level.

by the way...if anyone wants to hear how peaceful the exit music to Soarin is, IM me...it is VERY peaceful (it is similar to the ride soundtrack, but softer and really harmonious...). It is very agreeable to The Land's theme.

This attraction is a good move, it will disperse the crowds into the pavilions, and away from the other side of the aprk, as well as being loads of fun!

Yeah, assuming it's going to be the same as at DCA, I totally agree. I think it's some of the best attraction music they've come up with in several years.

I don't think this will be as bad as some people are speculating

- It keeps yet another building in Future World open until park close. It might also bring more people into Imagination and Seas (and possibly keep them open later as well), since they're right next door
- Since they will be in a larger area, the Green Thumb Emporium and walking tours may still exist, and on a slightly larger scale.
- There will be a new sense of excitement in the pavilion. The building that once had 90 min lines for Listen to the Land will once again have long lines, and hopefully for both big attractions.

One random thought. During the big changeover when the building is going to be completely closed, they may remove the fountain. That should theoretically make up for any tables lost during the Fastpass installation.

Well, we already know the movie, itself, will use that music, so it's a safe bet that at least the show room, itself, will have that music, and most likely the large post show area.

When I first heard about Soarin' being added to Epcot I somehow thought it would be a whole new pavillion - Air. Wouldn't that have been better? Then there'd be Sea, Air and the Land all together. Darn.
