UNISEA, COMPLETE LIST OF ATTRACTIONS, RESTAURANTS AND SHOPS

A foreword: Every land in UniSEA wants to be at the quality level of Hogsmeade. Whenever possible, land elements are taken verbatim from their IP source, though none works as perfectly as Harry Potter. Additionally, cast members in each land should roleplay as that land’s residents much as they do in Hogsmeade, playing into the land’s storyline as explorers, scientists, Pokémon trainers, et cetera. And now, onward!

Every shop and restaurant has a tentative name. Many attractions still do not.

VICTORIAN LONDON
Entry land set in 1899, the infancy of cinema and birth year of Alfred Hitchcock (both are referenced). Entry gates resemble the Buckingham Palace gates, and the entry façade is a British structure designed by @MonorailRed . (Is that based on anything specific, Red?) The land begins in a scaled replica of Trafalgar Square. Like the Eiffel Tower in Epcot, rooftops hold forced perspective models of landmarks like Big Ben or the dome of St. Paul’s, giving the land depth. Various streets and arcades branch off to the other worlds, some of them classy like Whitehall, others gritty like the East End docks. There are landmarks like Admiralty’s Arch, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, and more.

RIDES
· Universal Ferry Boats – Park-wide transportation
· Hogwarts Express – Transport from Kings Head Station to Hogsmeade

OTHER ATTRACTIONS
· The Royal Victorian Theatre – Broadway-caliber venue for live shows like Les Mis
· TBD nighttime spectacular – Likely to be held on the waters before Hogwarts

PARK SERVICES
· Universal Park Centre – In a replica of the National Gallery; Stroller/wheelchair rentals, lockers, lost & found, etc.

RESTAURANTS

· Jubilee Coffees & Teas – Coffee shop (done Australian-style) and bakery
· Curry House – London-style Indian and Chinese curries, in an immigrant’s converted pub (perhaps near like a Sherlock Baker St. façade)
· Cod’s Blessings – Counter service fish ‘n’ chips by the docks
· Madame Pratt’s Meat Pies – Quick service British bites, in homage to Sweeney Todd and set next to orphanage and opium den facades
· Street Treats – Snack cart, in like a vintage fire truck or Scotland Yard cart
· Chimneysweep Snacks – Snack cart, serves London street food like roast nuts

· Treacle’s Sweets Shop – Candy store alongside Alfreds, specializes in British puddings
· Plunder Down Under – A replica of Captain Cook’s ship Endeavor sells goods from the Australian colony (then seeking independence), a fun reference for local guests
· Emma’s Flowers – Victorian flower cart (think My Fair Lady)
· Tuppence a Bag – Additional traveling salesman souvenir cart

WELLS LABORATORIES
Directly inspired by the vintage sci-fi of H.G. Wells (and occasionally others), not based on any later film adaptations. Setting is a Grand Exposition-style steel palace (a 19th-century World’s Fair) built around the crater of a crashed Martian cylinder. Earth’s scientists use the Martians’ energy source to power their own inventions, their time machines and spaceships and robots.

RIDES
· The War of the Worlds – Launched outdoor coaster; Tracks resemble an elevated metro and coaster supports resemble Tripods, visually justifying it
· The Time Machine – Motion-base dark ride like Spider-Man or Transformers

OTHER ATTRACTIONS
· The Island of Dr. Moreau – Walkthrough of the Dr.’s laboratory/zoo

RESTAURANTS

· The Food of the Gods – Counter service dining in an observatory and a planetarium, based on a lesser Wells novel about Super Foods
· The Hungry Martian – Martian quick service served from a crashed Tripod

· Store of the Worlds – War of the Worlds post-ride shop in a Victorian metro station, with plundered weaponry from the defeated Martians
· Tesla Gifts – Gift cart made of Tesla coils

SKULL ISLAND
King Kong’s jungle lair inspired mainly by the 1933 original, with aesthetic upgrades as needed. Set after the original film (and ignoring Son of Kong), Carl Denham is now hosting research expeditions on the island to document and film its prehistoric fauna, and perhaps discover another giant ape. Once-stereotypical natives are now tastefully inspired by Ethiopia’s Konso village and similar sources.

RIDES

· Gondwana Jack’s – Jack Driscoll runs a village cookhouse counter serving exotic, Asian-inspired snacks
· Sumatran Oasis – A drink counter (beer) from a natural spring flowing from the ancient stone monoliths; Also tropical cocktail drinks, many banana-infused

SHOPS
· Great Ape Outfitters – River Adventure post-ride shop held in base camp tents, full of mementos from Denham’s ill-fated Broadway show
· Tribal Traders – Native souvenirs sold within the skeleton of a giant ape, decorated with village tapestries

POKEMON – THE KANTO REGION
Based on Pokémon’s Kanto Region, with mainly bucolic wilderness dotted by scattered towns like Pallet Town or the combined urban areas of Celadon City and Saffron City. The child-friendly land, with attractions to match, and a land-wide interactive game befitting Nintendo.

RIDES
· Legendary Racers: Mew vs. Mewtwo – Racing junior coasters
· PokéSnap Photo Safari – Interactive photo-taking dark ride
· Carousel of Pokémon – Flat ride
· PokéBall Spin – Teacups; Note both flat rides are in a PokéPark sub-area because I’ve been otherwise unable to conceive of or justify flat rides, which this land needs

OTHER ATTRACTIONS
· Gotta Catch ‘Em All – Land-wise scavenger hunt like Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, starts at Professor Oak’s Lab collecting Pokédexes, then proceeds to Gyms scattered throughout the land

ZELDA’S HYRULE
Nintendo’s Zelda land, primarily inspired by Ocarina of Time. It’s largely subdivided into sub-areas, with Hyrule Field as a hub leading to the Lost Woods, Death Mountain, Kakariko Village and Hyrule Castle Town. A second Nintendo land for slightly older kids.

RIDES
· Breath of the Wild flight simulator – Paragliders leave from Death Mountain and sail tranquilly over Hyrule
· Twilight Princess interactive dark ride – Shoot arrows from horseback; A rather screen-based ride which dramatizes the defeat of Gannon

THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER - HOGSMEADE
Pretty much a clone from Islands of Adventure with a few new attractions. The most notable difference is a total redesign of Hogwarts Castle into a full-scale boutique hotel so that guests may stay overnight in the park’s center completely immersed in Harry Potter’s world! Hogwarts doubles as the park’s central icon.

RIDES
· Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey – The classic
· TBD 2nd E-ticket flight simulator – To be based on either quidditch or hippogriffs
· The Whomping Willow – Swing spinner flat ride

· Dervish and Banges – Clothing and goods for Hogwarts students
· Honeydukes – Candy shop

TRANSYLVANIA
Inspired by the classic Universal Monsters of the 30s and 40s, rather than any later iterations. Note that this land combines settings which span Transylvania, Switzerland, England and Wales (not that the films’ geography was ever super clear), which I feel is justified for a land celebrating history’s earliest cinematic universe. Set in the village of Vasaria and nearby Carpathian Mountains.

RIDES
· Revenge of the Mummy – Indoor coaster clone, now Karloff-themed
· The Ride of Frankenstein – Drop tower, set during Dr. Frankenstein’s experiment
· Unnamed river raft ride – Similar to Bilge Rat Barges, encompassing any and all Monsters. (Due to a possible conflict with a UniMK Popeye raft ride, this could be altered into something like a Black Lagoon version of Jaws.)

OTHER ATTRACTIONS
· Castle Dracula – A supersized permanent scare maze/haunt!
· Unnamed Wolf-Man scare show – Wolf-Man version of ExtraTERRORestrial, written by @themazethinker
· Abbott & Costello Meet the Monsters – Humorous live theater show
· Universal Monsters Meet ‘n’ Shriek – Meet ‘n’ greet of rotating characters

· Kharis’ Treasures – Mummy coaster post-ride shop, selling Egyptian goods held in Goldstadt’s Museum of Antiquities
· Maleva’s Fortunetelling – Live one-on-one gypsy fortunetelling and palm reading

***

Note that in general the number and balance of attractions, shops and restaurants is all based on a combination of IOA and TDS. I’ve been careful to keep a sane number of dark rides, roller coaster, water rides, et cetera. As always, any comments, critiques, additions, subtractions or substitutions are entirely welcome!

@D Hindley -- if it's alright for you, and to make it easier for everyone to review -- I really like the way you outlined your park, and for those who are just catching up, I'm going to do the same thing with UniMK this afternoon.

For the time being though...I wonder what everyone's thoughts are on a new entrance idea I came up with for UniMK

The UniMK entrance has changed hand over foot several times, but what is making me change it up this time is to distinguish the two park entrances. With yours (UniSEA) having an emphasis on immersing you into lands and experiences...I woke up this morning with the idea of having UniMK -- focus on the art of filmmaking, cinematography, and the process -- while still incorporating you within immersive lands.

Which is where the entry land comes in. If it is a backlot, or at least themed like the Streets of America or something like that with maybe a walkthrough attraction on film/cinema itself...then that would set the stage for action, mystery, adventure, animation, etc.

Talking of Paddy's last night, I just realized for some reason that The Office and Seinfeld (two of my other favorite shows) are in association with Universal Television.

How cool would it be to have Monks Cafe from Seinfeld --- or in an attraction like the former Doug Live in MGM Studios...have a live mockumentary Office skit that guests can play parts on the Dunder Mifflin set, and a studio audience can watch...then walk through the set, take pictures, etc.

However - for these enviornments to make sense, we'd need various locations throughout the US -- New York, Scranton, Philly, etc. (we could also use shows like Friends, Cheers, and more -- making it more of a Film/Television production square. This could be accomplished through a Streets of America type entrance like what formally stood in DHS.

The Streets of America production square could then transition into a New York facade, with Fantastic Beasts flanking it off to the side as originally intended.

Thoughts on this? Could mix it up between the parks and bring about a studio feel while at the same time, immersing you in the world of production with all the various locations to explore.

King's Cross Station not King's Head. Also, what about Diagon Alley? I mean sure, EFG is set nearly a century later but may we have a Victorian era version of DG in the near future as an expansion?
Whoops! :cautious: Thanks for the correction.

Good note on Diagon Alley. I suppose for the time being we could designate an expansion pad near King's Cross so it could be added later.

Regarding Hogwarts Express and the century separating it ( and EFG) from Victorian London...When guests enter the station, perhaps they could come in contact with a time turner and jump forward in time? Keep it a subtle thing, of course, there for attentive guests.

Glad it'll be helpful. It's good to get a careful contrast between the two parks. Still excited to see how UniMK is shaping up. :D

The biggest problem with UniSEA is that it can't really add new IPs unless they fit it perfectly. I like having some studio production elements in UniMK so we can add Scranton, Paddy's, and whatever we like super easily.

How will you do a studio setting in an immersive manner? And done uniquely from other studio parks?

For the entry, another idea that can allow for multiple IPs: What if it was more like a grand old movie palace? Each screen leads into a different cinematic or TV universe. The Last Action Hero concept, only not ridiculous. Filmgoing instead of filmmaking. Just another idea. Tossing things out there.

Just had an idea and had to write it down quick

We have action adventure mystery animation...what about comedy?

What if the 'Main Street' of UniMK was themed to comedy? With authentic attractions, shops, restaurants, and transportation from the shows.

Lined along the main street
Paddys Pub
Cheers
Central Perk
Monks Cafe
NBC Universal Emporium
30 Rock, Saturday Night Live as the main weenie

Off the main street...
The Office - mocumentary live show

Then since we were talking about diagon alley for Uni Sea ...why not have Fantastic Beasts (set to the sequels possibly in London) as the 'expansion' piece instead of it in unimk

Since most of the shows take place in the northeast US...having similar architecture styles will be easier to blend into a main street.

Sorry typing on my phone haha...thoughts?

Hmm, a NY entry land centered around the 30 Rock building, with sitcom stuff all around it? Yes, yes, I can totally see that! Setting-wise, we could easily port over that Jimmy Fallon ride, even if it seems somewhat mediocre. I like your list of show settings. Think they'd feel OK near each other.

I'm in favor of including Fantastic Beasts either at the park's premiere, or as the very first expansion. My concern is that the Potter-centric UniSEA won't open until 10 or 12 years later, and the franchise needs resort representation earlier. Plus, Fantastic Beasts is a new setting, it would attract guests who've already visited Hogsmeade elsewhere.

That is, if we're all passionate about Fantastic Beasts. I haven't yet seen it, so I can't speak to how it'd work in a theme park.

I've seen a snippet of it - though not enough to say how good or bad it was. I'm probably not the best person to make that call either.

What if the Hogwarts Boutique resort opened earlier? Say within 2-3 years after UniMK? And then around the resort (which is completely enclosed in the world of HP), the theme park was built and the resort becomes the central icon of the park?

This way HP gets notoriety in the early years.

I heard that Fantastic Beasts had several sequels planned (series of 5 films)? The original came out in 2016 - and the sequel is planned for 2018

Figuratively -- let's say the resort opens when we finish the project - so say 2017, and if they do 5 films for Fantastic Beats at 2 years apart, we would be looking at 2024 for the final film -- and 2027/2029 for the opening of UniSEA

Considering Harry Potter was complete in 2011 and Diagon Alley opened in 2014 (and was very popular) I think we'd be in good shape! That may be over analyzing it but eh, it's fun to lay it out -- but also why building these 10-15 year expansion projects with IPs is tough because you are limited to the IPs of today.

Overall the different shows will overlap pretty well in terms of their city facades, creating a Streets of America type atmosphere as the entrance to the park, with the 4-5 story facades on all sides, blocking the views of the other lands of the park...until you get past Jimmy Fallon and enter the 'Central Park' which will act as a hub for the park - looking out onto Jurassic World, Nintendo, and the other lands which you now have access to.

The Production Plaza will ultimately be a place that envelops the guest in the world of studio and filmmaking, through the use of comedy and predominately NBCUniversal shows, past and present. Immersing you in those environments of the timeless shows will bring an era of nostalgia and intrigue for what could be added in the future, as there will be plenty of backstage area left even after opening day for expansions.

Thoughts?

As another note - I think it would be reasonable for NBCUniversal properties to start it out on opening day, and then as Sunny enters its final seasons and word catches on that Uni is doing a comedy land, they sign an agreement for Paddy's Pub and the expansion near The Office, which would then allow more shows to continue the trend if they wanted to from other channels/studios.
