While I won't be signing up, I'd like to wish everyone the best of luck with this season of SYWTBAI! This season has been several years in the making -- for those unaware, several of us were having extensive discussions about how and when to hold the next iteration of SYWTBAI back in the winter of 2014. Knowing @TheOriginalTiki and @JokersWild as all of us do, this competition should be one of the best programs the forum has seen in years. I'm excited to see where they take the game, the work you all produce, and the end result of this multi-part competition. Again, good luck to all, and may the best Arm-Chair win.

P.S. - Be on the lookout for your's truly in the post-challenge recap podcasts! I may or may not make a few appearances throughout the year.

I wish we had Facebook's multiple reactions option because I would LOVE this post! Thanks, Giants. This is honestly exactly what I needed after a rough few days finding out that I had failed my Spring classes. I oftentimes get down on myself for not having achieved any level of success on a financial level (still have only done work crew programs in my late teens, never been hired for a real job which honestly scares the hell out of me...) but seeing posts like this remind me that I have achieved something perhaps better than finacial success.

I've always run SYWTBAI partly out of a feeling of obligation for young people who might be struggling socially in school but can come out of their shells, create some awesome content, meet some online friends, and have an AWESOME time doing it. I was certainly one of the weird kids in the back of my high school classes drawing cartoons in my notebook, so I know exactly how valuable a community like this can be.

While I'm still a fairly awkward 25 year old and I certainly am less financially independent then I'd like to be, I definitely pride myself on the half a life time I have spent as "Tiki" and the part I played in developing the ideas and concepts that led to this community becoming a big success.

Alright, inspirational speech over. I just got a bit gushy over LG's post. ;)

Game starts THIS FRIDAY! Jokers and I will be doing a cast assessment and dividing you all up into teams with the first project posted Friday afternoon. There's still plenty of slots to fill before we reach our 20 person cap, so feel free to sign up if you haven't already!

Also, still waiting on Walt's Vault submissions. You have until THURSDAY AT MIDNIGHT EASTERN TIME to get those into me. If I don't receive any submissions, the person with what Jokers and I consider the strongest application will be granted the first key to Walt's Vault.

As a reminder, the first Walt's Vault event WILL be a postive one that will definitely give whoever opens it an advantage in the game. Going forward the events will either be positive or negative, but for the first round you will definitely want what's inside. ;)

1.)What brings you to "So, You Want to be an Imagineer"?
Well, I am apart of the house cup competition this year, and I just joined the forums. I love creating ideas for the parks and after be coming more and more familiar with WDWmagic, I would like to continue imagineering and meeting new people.
2.)What is your favorite Disney "land" from a design point of view?
New Fantasyland- it's new, brings all the "magic" and fantasy to Magic Kingdom, and transitions well within each story that you go through.
3.) Who is your favorite Imagineer and why?
Hands down Walt Disney. I look up to him and use his advice in everyday problems/situations. He's the one who came up with the ideas to start it all and without all he's done I don't know where my life would be right now.
4.) If you could bring back one Extinct Attraction, what would it be.
Maelstrom. Even though I'm excited for the new Frozen attraction, I've actually never had the chance to ride this, so it would be cool to see it in person.
5.)Do you gots any special skillz?(art, video editing, ect.)
I can do photography(a lot at the disney parks), I can write a lot, I sketch/do art every now and then, I have video editing on my laptop and now how to work it if that counts, and some I've used in house competition projects.

I've been meaning to sign up, and I'm worried I'm going to forget, so this is from my phone (and formatting will probably be terrible)

1. I love to Imagineer here, and really enjoyed the strategy focused TSI, so I thought this would be fun! :D

2. That's hard, but I think I'll have to go with Asia. It's my favorite land in my favorite park, and it's beautiful. Diagon Alley definitely tops it though (despite Gringotts being one of the worst rides I've ever been on :cautious:)

3. Tony Baxter! Because Splash Mountain, and Figment

4. The original JII. I'm sad I was never able to experience it, but I love JIIWF, and it looks so amazing.

5. I like brainstorming and making websites.

We're back.

1. What brings you to "So, You Want to be an Imagineer"?
-I've dabbled with "So, You Want to be an Imagineer" since the Vision Fantastic days; just can't seem to get away so why try at this point? Hah!

2. What is your favorite Disney "land" from a design point of view?
-At this point, I'd have to go with Grizzly Peak, which in my opinion is the best themed land at the Disneyland Resort in terms of sheer immersion. There's no other land in the resort that I'm aware of that simulates an environment to such a degree.

3. Who is your favorite Imagineer and why?
-My favorite imagineer is, without a doubt, Tony Baxter, mostly because of his involvement with such important attractions as Star Tours and Splash Mountain, not to mention his affiliation with Imagineering since the 60s.

4. If you could bring back one Extinct Attraction, what would it be.
-Adventure Thru Inner Space, albeit in modernized fashion.

5. Do you gots any special skillz?

(art, video editing, etc.)

-Things have definitely changed since I joined my first competition back in 2007 (or was it 2006?). I pride myself in my 3D modeling. Lately I've been experimenting with animation, and it's gone well for the most part. I think that adds an important arsenal to my game. I love photo editing, enjoy video editing, writing, things like that. .

Yes, yes, a million times YES! Thanks for signing up, Basketbuddy. Now we can do my dream Space vs. Red vs. Basketbuddy concept art showdown. :D

We start on Friday so there's still some time for more people to sign up if you want, but were getting pretty close to filling up the 20 slots.

Walt's Vault Key Challenge

Wanting an early advantage in the game? Try your hand at the first Imagineering challenge of the season! For this mini challenge, you must pick a Disney attraction not currently tied to S.E.A. (The Society of Explorers and Adventurers) and give it a S.E.A. tie-in. A new character isn't required, but would definitely score some bonus points. All we need is a brief description of changes in the attraction's queue that would tie the attraction to the S.E.A. storyline.

Please send me a conversation with a title along the lines of "Walt's Vault submission" with your entry. There is no sentence limit. Jokers and I will choose the best submission and they will be granted the first key to Walt's Vault!
When is this due?
