You have got to be kidding me? So both SSE and HM will be down when I am there in September. Pretty soon I am going to cancel my reservaions. I am seriously bummed. And yes I know it probably needs a rehab by now, but I have not been to WDW for almost 10 years and was very much looking forward to seeing it again.

Look on the bright side.... at least Mexico and Norway will be open again in Sept.

Seriously though.... sorry for the inconvenience during your upcoming trip

I don't have a problem with the wand, I actually think it looks good up there.

We refused to go on the ride this last trip, it needs some serious updating and such.

I agree. It is merely cosmetic. It, in NO WAY WHAT SO EVER, effects the ride. Unless of course, it were to colapse onto SSE, then we would have a problem.

I'm not trying to start an argument, so please don't get offended  :

I can tell you're not in the architecture or design business, because cosmetic elements are immensely important in theme park planning. Every experience you have at WDW relies on cosmetics.

I thank you for your sympathy. I will try to get over it and convince myself that Mexico and Norway will make up for the SSE closure.

I get that, I just didn't think of it, at least not in an architechtural way. I guess I mean that they built it so it will stay up and it's just for looks.

As long as the rehab keeps the spirit of the attraction intact (which I fully expect Siemens will be behind), I will be very excited to see what they do. Even if it's a TLC rehab with an ending change, it will be great. Anything else will be gravy.

It is a shame that SSE probably won't be open on October 1st though. But I'm sure fans won't mind if this rehab is done right. And I think it will be.

I talked to three seperate Spaceship Earth Cast Members this evening one that I know has been very reliable in the past. They each seperatly told me that they have been hearing July 7th as the last day of operation before the rehab. They also said the plan is to have it back up by Thanksgiving week as long as everything stays on schedule.

Again this info is not official, but they seemed pretty sure of it. Plus it makes sense as that would have it going down the week after July 4th and the start of a new times guide week.

Epcot is funny with Times Guides - they long ago abandoned really trying to have a weekly one, as they print fresh new ones for every EMH day because they can't list all the operational modifications that occur because their standard daily operation varies so greatly from the "posted" hours.

We'll be there in Sept.. My DS4 is going to be bummed if it's not running--he's been talking about how you go up into the ball and ride a ride...

This is the sort of thing that can be frustrating about DIS... you can make dining reservations 180 days in advance, they have park hours out 180 days in advance, etc., but they don't announce major refurbs that far in advance? It probably wouldn't change whether or not I go, BUT it could at least allow me to set expectations for my kids...
