I thought I heard that super star limo was supposed to open a few weeks after the ToT. It's not on the refrub list anymore, but I haven't seen it open either. What's up?

Superstar Limo has been pulled from the literature altogether, and won't be cominig back this summer as previously planned. As I understand it, the entrance to the attraction is now a designated smoking area.

Superstar Limo's entire marquee will vanish over the course of this summer. The building will be completely blank shortly. Add it officially to your "RIP" lists :)

So If I were to " accidentally " set SSL on fire I could say that it was an accident and someone was just smoking?:drevil:

I am fairly sure only the ride building and outside will be gutted, and the building will remain intact. While the next E-Ride, set to debut in 2007, is going to be south of Tower of Terror, east of Pacific Wharf, the D-ride also set to debut around the same time is most likely to replace Superstar Limo--makes the most sense, and they could either finally reopen Hollywood and Dine or remove the dining area once and for all and extend Superstar Limo's ride building into Hollywood and Dine for a huge show building.

Super Star Limo can best be described as a "dark ride" (i.e. Fantasyland style) where you are a superstar. As you rode through, "fans" (cut outs that popped up) would snap pictures of you - your "agent" (a cigar smoking puppet doing a taped act on a small monitor in your "limo") would hurry you through. But as you go through, you'd see puppet versions of different celebrities such as Drew Carey, Cher, Jackie Chan, Whoopie Goldberg, etc. It wasn't a headliner - but it was fun and the lines were usually fairly long! But, as any new attraction, it broke down fairly often and was closed within 2 years of opening (possibly less).

My hubby and I got sandwiches there when they first opened the park. They were great! And the seating was inventive! But by the time we came back it was closed! Ugh!

There are videos of the ride available on #Disney-Central.

Side comment: SSL didn't even make it to the first anniversary of the park; closing down late December or early January.

I heard that riding Superstar Limo could actually lower your IQ.

Al Lutz at www.miceage.com has frequently said that.

It was a short ride unless you count the lowered life expectancy due to brain cell destruction.

You were photographed at the end, but even the Mouse didn't have the nerve to actually try to sell them. Most people looked like they had just seen an incomprehensible, pretentious "art" movie by a beginning film school student whose professors' say "exhibits little promise".

Yeah, that's where I read that.

I watched the video from Theme Park Insider. Oh my... bad ride. bad bad bad. The mutant celeb animatronics were scary!

Superstar Limo was very tongue-in-cheek...I liked it...I guess you just had to get past the bizarreness to really like it, especially the Madame Leota. It's a funny ride if you go in not expecting to learn anything about California and are willing to just laugh. I'm guessing Californians take their movie industry somewhat more seriously as a major source of income, and didn't appreciate that attitude toward show-biz--a Great Movie Ride attraction would have probably been a better move. They could still do it if they want...the Superstar Limo ride building is quite large.

Well - I for one liked it as well (and I'm in the acting business on the side - as well as have my first album as a singer/songwriter coming out this August)! People take themselves WAY too seriously! It was all in good fun. And yes, very "tongue in cheek". We actually WANTED to buy our 1st picture. We were cracking up!

More History

Yes, the short lived pop-up version was not worth the time it took to ride it, but Jim Hill (JimHillMedia.com) has an interesting historical perspective on the ride development, or lack of development. It was originally going to be faster with much better theme, but budgets and historical issues watered it down so much, but they had to have something there for DCA opening.

Yes, now its the most expensive, well decorated and themed smoking area in any Disney park.
