No the rain is as warm as the weather. The ponchos are really just to keep you dry. Although the humidity under that plastic can make you sweat as much as you would get wet running under cover from the rain. The only time I have used a poncho was a day when it was forcast for continued rain. And we were going to NOJ concerts and just standing around listening to the bands in the rain. Otherwise its the usual Florida shower that you run and duck into a store or ride and wait it out then move on after the storm has passed.

Thank you TEENCHY. I think that FLorida rain will feel like a nice steamy shower to someone from Vancouver, like us!! I think I'll just take that opportunity to snap a picture of my wet and happy family!!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

On our first trip with DS I learned a tough lesson:

While you can always duck into a ride/attraction to wait out the rain, you may not be able to take your stroller with you. We can out to a soaked stroller that we could not put our 6 mo old in. Since that trip I have taken a stroller rain cover to put over our stroller everytime we go inside (if it looks like rain). You can also use the cover with your child in it. That way even if you have to get wet, your child and stroller don't. We never go to the parks without it.

I find that an investment in a 34.00 pair of cargo shorts with 4 - 6 pockets is way more practical than carrying any kind of bag -- point-and-shoot camera, wallet, keys, extra battery, spray sunblock and cellphone all go in the velcro-shut pockets (hence they don't fall out on rides either) and nothing to carry, nothing to check.

This is for me the only way to go, it is amazing how much you can get in all the pockets. With technology today shrinking the size of cameras and camcorders you don't have near as much to carry now as in years past, I remember on my first trip to DW I carried on a strap over my shoulder a full size VHS camcorder that by the end of a day at the park was killing me, just take the basic essentials with you leaving all the other stuff either in a locker or in your room and have a good time!
