I am so bummed out. My family went to our local mall in Chattanooga, TN today to the Disney Store (needed a disney fix). They are closing on March 9th. This is horrible. That means I will have to travel to Nashville, TN or Pigeon Forge, TN (Disney Outlet Store) which is 2-3 hours away. On the other hand everything in the store was 50% off so I was able to get my daughter some t-shirts for summer for $4.25 and the disney pins were also 1/2 price. What is a disney freak to do?????????:cry::cry:

I went to a mall where a Disney store had recently closed and went dumpster diving and got some cool props. Then the security guards came and put an end to it, but I still got away with a couple cool things.

I mean, I'm not suggesting anything. . .

Work your PR skills... get buddy-buddy with the people there and see if you can take something cool from the store as memorabilia. That is assuming your Disney store has as many crazily whimsical props as many Disney Stores do.

Oh, but if you want rationality, take advantage of the discounts while you still can!

I do feel you on the lacking a Disney Store nearby. Mes apologies! We'll get through this.

EDIT: haha, and then calicommando just had to steal my thunder by less than a minute posting time.

Come south toward Atlanta, Town Center At Cobb (according to the web) has a Disney store, that would be closer than a drive to Nashville, its exit 271 off of I-75. That would put it about 85 miles south of the Tennessee state line. Of course depending on traffic, it might seem longer.

Just be forewarned...traffic around Town Center is always pretty heavy. But you're always welcome to visit us in Georgia!

I know this might be a long shot, but I came across a travel agency that went out of business and scored alot of stuff. Posters, brochures, hand outs, even a video, albiet an old one of how to sell resort rooms to clients.

The closest one to us is Sevierville, TN (Pigeon Forge). The one in Asheville, NC closed many years ago. I understand your pain.

I've been noticing that too, a lot of Disney Stores closing. But luckily, there is still one near me (as far as I know) at the Westfarms Mall in West Hartford, CT.

I know exactly how you feel. There used to be one in Montgomery, but it closed a few years ago. The closest one to us is in Birmingham (about 1hr and a few mins away). We have traveled up that way just to go to the Disney Store. We go and get Disney Dollars there and have a special trip just to do that :lookaroun.

When we travel, we always look for one. There's an outlet down in Foley, near the beach and also the one in Pigeon Forge. We were at the mountains for Thanksgiving and the one there was closed. They were in the process of moving it and had the grand opening about a week after we were there :(.

I would be in so much trouble if there was one near by! I am buying items from the Mickey Home Collection and I am having trouble finding one more water glass. It isn't online anymore and customer service didn't know if it was coming back. I looked on ebay but there is only 1 up and it is sooo over priced. Oh well, when we head down there next month, may have to try and stop at any along the way!

I too am in Chattanooga. It is sad that they are closing. I shopped there a lot! We went buy and got some good deals the other night though. I am willing to drive to visit the Disney Store every once and a while but it was nice having one here in town. I did not realize there was in in Pigeon Forge! I will have to remember that! I do have a question though. We would go to the Disney store to get our children Disney Dollars for our trip. They would earn them through allowance. Now that they are closing I can not buy them as often as I would like. Does anyone know of anywhere I can buy them online?

you can call disney mail order, or call a disney store that is still open and use a credit card, and then ship it to you house. i dont think you can do it on the computer, as i think they only sell disney gift cards for the store.

I feel your pain. The Disney store nearest to me closed too! There's another one about less than an hour from where I live, but I don't travel over there very much. I always have the online store to take a look at, but it's just not the same. I just keep telling myself that I will be at the world in less than 6 months, and I will have all the Disney shopping I could ask for!

Yes, there is a Disney Outlet Store in Pigeon Forge TN but the last time I was there Spring 2007, I was terribly disappointed. All of the merchandise in clothing looked as if it had previously been worn. When we first started going there in '98 (I drive over 140 miles) it was a lot better and a much bigger selection. You can not use DRD's either. Although if you use your Chase Disney Visa you get more DRD. I guess it is all in what you are looking for.
