So, now that both are open, which is better?

A couple years ago there was a huge debate over which Orlando area blockbuster attraction would be/is better... Universal Studios' Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride, or Walt Disney World's Expedition: Everest. Over comparing the two, I have personally decided that the winner by far is Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride. Granted, E:E Is an excellent attraction, but I felt ROTM: TR packed a bigger punch and was much more thrilling. Both are visually stunning attractions with incredible queues, but I think Universal has won this battle.

Now, to only those who have experienced both attractions, which do you think is better?

Never been on ROTM, but have on Everest, but from waht I saw on a video, I would also have to say ROTM. Everest is great, but the whole thing of ROTM looks wayyy better atleast technology wise.

They are both great! In a way, they are completely different from each other and can't be compared.

I've been on both...for a thrill ride, Mummy is better...kinda. I'm not saying "Kinda" because I'm a Disney nut...I'm saying "Kinda" because the thrill is way too short. The theming to ROTM isn't NEARLY up to par with the theming of Everest, the effects are better on ROTM.

They are both great attractions...but, as a personal experience...when I got off of ROTM...I felt like it needed more...and was WAY too short. I was awestruck when I got off of Everest.

(But, to think that I'm just saying this as a Disney nut...I think Spider-man is better than Everest)

Wow, I was totally let down by the Mummy. My Mother, who is over 60 I might add, wasn't even that excited by it! Everest is much smoother, faster, and more thrilling...hands down. As for theming, the fire scene was really cool, but the scarab scene was a joke. After Spiderman I just expected way more out of Universal. EE's shadow scene isn't exactly impressive either, but I didn't like the way they did the scarab video screens at all. The Yeti, on the other hand, is more impressive than the whole Mummy attraction. I will say that the queue for Mummy is totally awesome, though. I didn't wait in line for EE so I didn't get to see any of the queue. I know, I know, I missed out, but I will check it out next time.

Been on both. Everest is much better. The theme fits. The story makes sense. Neither of these aspects are quite where they should be with ROTM. Plus, the actual coaster on Everest is much more thrilling. EVEREST whens in a landside, an avalanche if you will.

i really dont want to say a favorite because in my eyes they both rule.
i have only been on ROTM so far but i plan on everest being my first stop once i arrive in florida this september.

now some of you may say,how can i say they are the same when i haven't idden EE yet?,and your right i cant but based on videos of everest there is only one thing that,at the moment, swings my vote towards ROTM, that is that there doesn't really seem to be much to look at when the cars are moving on EE,sure there is the high up mountain scene and the yeti but in ROTM there are allsorts of stuff to look at all be it some of them are a bit lame, ( the light up pictures in the main coaster bit for example) at least theres something.
but like i said i haven't been on EE yet, come september my veiws could change.

Everest, because it doesn't have any retarded blacklight skeletons like Mummy does. Mummy's essentially got a few nifty effects when you start and a couple good animatronics, but from there it's just a generic coaster in the dark.

Everest is better for the fact that they make me get a locker at Universal before getting on the Mummy. I have one small bag and in the time it takes to put it in the locker and then retrieve it after takes away from the whole ride experience.

Both rides are awesome, and I make it a point to ride both as much as possible when I'm at either park.

I can't directly say which one I like better because I like them both. The only thing that would influence my opinion would be the park (ie "I like Everest better because it's in AK" or "I like ROTM better because I can go on MiB after it").

Everest has the thrills, but the ride's theming could use some work (in some areas), and the ride could be a little longer.

ROTM has awesome theming and everything up to and including the launch is outstanding, but the coaster portion is kinda boring and the ending is god awful.

Ultimately, both rides offer a complete experience, including a great setup, incredible theming, and thrilling moments.

The backwards portion of Mummy might as well not exist. It's way too short and doesn't serve much of a purpose other than to make it possible to say "This ride goes backwards.*" The story for ROTM is lame also. "The movie set is cursed... but it's not actually a movie set, it's a temple, but it's not actually a temple or a movie set, it's a ride at a theme park... but wait, it's a movie set again." With Everest, you get one consistent story from the moment you step into the land (even before you get to the queue there are references and details to tell you where you are and why). The backwards portion really packs a punch, and the whole thing is so smooth. I like them both, but to try and compare them or to say that Mummy is superior "Hands Down" is a bit of a stretch for me.

Unlike most people here, I actually think ROTM is better by a long shot. Its more thrilling, and I like the special effects better. Most of all, I think it gets better with mutible rides becasue there are just too many effects to see and feel. Everest kind of like a "been there, done that" ride for me. I am not saying EE is a bad ride, atucally M:S is the coolest ride I've ever ridden but I had the same "been there, done that" feeling. It is still good but I just see no repeat value. But ROTM on the other hand, is so addctive I could just go ride it again and again.

Hands down, the Mummy!! Everest has too much "down time" where you're just kind of sitting there for what seems like forever. I don't know what they consider to be the official ride length of Everest, but they ought to deduct about a minute or so and not count that as actual ride time. With the Mummy, once you get going it's exciting from beginning to end. As a point of comparison, Everest stops in two points so they can switch the track. The first time, you're sitting there looking at some twisted track and a plastic bird (totally lame). The second time, you're watching a projection of the Yeti that looks totally fake. On the Mummy, you also stop two times. The first time, you are facing a wall of crawling scarabs* and the second time you are looking at an impressive animatronic plus the ceiling above you is completely engulfed in flames (plus a few more surprises that I won't give away for anyone who hasn't ridden it yet). In both cases, you are only stopped for a few brief seconds and you're being completely entertained the whole time. Everest doesn't come close.

The special effects in Mummy absolutely blow Everest away. In fact, I can't really think of anything in Everest that could actually be defined as an "effect". There was the steam at the beginning, but that only seems to be working intermittently. On Mummy, you have fire, explosions, impressive AAs, fog, etc. Once again, Everest doesn't come close.

*One comment on the scarab effect: An earlier poster complained about it, but it's actually the exact same effect as the bug projection in Indiana Jones (at Disneyland) and no one complains about that.
