Well, as soon as I click for the survey, the first question is my age. So I click the box "18-29" and it says this:

"Thank you for your interest. However, at this time, we are looking for survey respondents who fit a different profile.

Please do not be discouraged, as there may be future studies to which you will be invited to participate."

Wow. Talk about dumb.

It's not dumb... they are looking for statistical information for people of certain age ranges. Many surveys are used to ascertain responses from certain groups (age, certain income, or people that have young kids). For example, they may be looking for responses from people that are close to retirement age. They could use their responses to determine whether or not to market to those that may bring their grandchildren to the parks.

Thrawn is correct. The link is tied to your information, so you may want to edit it out of your post.

They shouldn't waste everyone's time if they just want a 40+ crowd then. At least put somethere there for everyone else.

I recieved the same survey yesterday. I checked the "18-29" box and it then let me take the survey. Apparently they simply got all the info they needed from that age range before you took the survey.

Ahhh.. more information! Does appear that you are correct. They probably have a sampling size specified for each age group.

I just finished the survey. It pertained to Disney offering family vacations to Costa Rica, London, Paris, Hawaii, and Canadian Rockies. They would act as a tour guide service with two Disney trained personel. It sounded interesting. There is a forty person max per tour, and they also offered adult only tours. They also questioned if an actual Disney resort in these locations would be of more interest.

Perhaps it would be a bit more professional and courteous of them to say something like this in the e-mail: "We are currently gathering data from 500 people, ages 18-29. If you can particiapte, please follow this link at your earliest convenience" and then if you click and they've met their quota, perhaps it could be a bit more clear and say, "We're sorry - our anticiapted market sample has been reached, but we would like to thank you for your time. Please watch for future surveys!"

I've completed several surveys since my last trip in Feb/Mar. I'm in the 35-39 age group. Probably thought to have more disposable income in this age group, so I get surveyed quite a bit.

Mine had nothing to do with that. All of my questions were about WDW.

I've participated in several WDW surveys over the years; at parks, via email; from a pop-up on the WDW website, and even over the phone. The strangest one was about a new "green" resort in which would use recycled water, and be constructed of environmentally friendly materials, etc. The deal-breaker for me was the possibility that the guests would not be able to control the temperature of their rooms!

Many, many years ago I used to work in market research, that idea really wouldn't work (well, not in the simple form).

Since the OP was cut after the first question, we know it was a gating question. What we don't know is how many gating questions there are. Age, maybe your state, perhaps income, perhaps race... One survey I used to work on had 15 gates. The choice is to let everyone do the survey or cut people off as fast as possible. It would be hard in the mail to say "We need 500 people 18-29 of which we need 30% white and of that 30% we need to have all 50 states covered and we need 30% black and...." It's easier for everyone involved to just start the survey and disquallify as rapidly as possible.

I've been stopped at least 20 times after the turnstyles with "Would you like to take a survey" -- about 18 of those times I was let go with a "thanks" after the first question, "What is your zip code?" I just move on...

Hopefully they are polite when you're cut... :)
