So Close, But Yet so Far

Well, as some of you may know, I had a trip scheduled to go to WDW this past 18th. I never made it. Instead, getting two hours away from my house the Blizzard of '09 came through on the east coast. After narrowly avoiding a few wrecks and, what should have taken ten minutes to arrive but took five hours, I arrived at a hotel and was stuck there for two days. Besides all the snow, both the interstate to go towards Florida and the highway to go back towards my house was shut down. After two days, I made it to one of my houses, which had no power and no water. I got my power back on the 23rd, and my water back on the 25th. Today, I have gotten my internet and phone back. Trees are also laid across my yard which I will have to have removed somehow. Power trucks are basically the only vehicles on the road besides the National Guard and State Troopers.

Luckily, the nice folks at Disney were kind enough to let me reschedule my trip for next year around Thanksgiving.

Glad you were able to reschedule! Sounds horrible otherwise.... :(

Wow! I'm so sorry, but glad they didn't give you a problem about rescheduling. Surprisingly, we have yet to get any major snowfall here in Michigan. Very strange, it's snowed a couple times, but never even enough to cover the grass!

I too got caught in the "Blizzard of '09" on December 18th and 19th. I was in White Sulphur Springs, WV visiting with family. We got 30 inches of snow and every single road was closed, closed, closed. People were stuck in their cars for 19 hours in some instances. Fortunately, I was at a lovely hotel with lots of warm heat and electricity. I was one of the lucky ones.

I am so glad that Disney let you reschedule your vacation. If you have never been during Thanksgiving, you will love it. I have been twice during that time of the year and the weater was perfect both times.

I actually forgot I had created this thread. Just wanted to update that this trip has been rescheduled again from Thanksgiving to two weeks before Halloween. However I did get to go once earlier this year already with a few fellows from the E while down on location at the job.
