So can anyone explain the Legend of Jack Sparrow to me?

I haven't been to WDW since 2010. I assume an attraction here or there has popped up that I haven't been aware of. This is one of them. It is at Disney Hollywood Studios. How is it?

It took the place of the Prince Caspian debacle. I personally enjoyed it quite a bit although there are many who dislike it. It is a somewhat interactive experience where they use some very cool projections that look almost holographic in nature and involve the audience. You stand the whole time so be prepared for that and the best spots are either all the way in the front or the back for viewing IMO. There are some good special effects and it is a great way to beat the heat and try something new for 20 minutes or so. I say anything is worth doing once!

Eh. Did it because I was walking by and it looked interesting. I honestly didn't even get it. It's an "immersive" special-effects "walk-through" attraction. From my memory (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong), you're just in one or two big rooms the whole time.

Yup...definitely not and E-ticket but still head and shoulders above its predecessor. The kids in the crowd I was in really seemed to like it! As an adult it was a once and done for me but I did not consider it a waste of time like I did Americal Idol. Each to their own I suppose.

Its a filler "experience". Queue up, get shuffled through several scenes, random kid gets chosen to save the day, leave. Pretty good projections and nice props and is Inside with Air Conditioning.

As everyone else said, its not the best thing ever - but it is kinda interesting and has nice effects, but not advisable if you need a sit down after being on your feet all day as it involves a lot of standing and watching. But at least it has a bit more Captain Jack to enjoy...savvy?

I went in September 2013 and thought it was the "pre-show". When it was over and the doors opened to go outside I was very disappointed to say the least. I wouldn't waste my time again and like it was stated above, you stand throughout.

It has Johny Depp in it, that is all the reason I need to go to it, don't care if I have to stand because as I said it has Johnny Depp, anything where I can stare at Johnny Depp for ten miutes is worth my time.

Well to be fair, Depp wasn't the reason that movie was a stinker... I blame the director for the overly long and boring action sequences and whoever cast the dude that plays the Lone Ranger... he was so vanilla and boring it made Clayton Moore seem like De Niro.

It's basically an imagineering projection mapping experiment. Worth doing once if you've never seen projection mapping. But otherwise not that great.

Personally, I love projection mapping. It always makes me stand there and wonder just how it is done that makes those characters look so realistic and 3 dimensional. Worth seeing once, at least. I go every time I'm in DHS.

I'd say it's worth it just for the Jack Sparrow projection. That part is cool. It's for kids and pretty entertaining with the right mindset.

That said, what a a lazy excuse for an "attraction" at Disney World. It would be interesting and passable at an offshoot place like Downtown Disney or something. This is not good enough for one of the four major theme parks at WDW and is a waste of the building. It's another example of lazy and cheap imagineering. Disney figures that can (and do) get away with it because it's JACK SPARROW and themed to the legendary Pirates of the Caribbean!! WOW!!

Can we please get a new attraction that doesn't fit the cookie cutter "imagineering on a budget" scenario? Or a cheap movie tie in to bandaid a "refurbishment" or "new" attraction?

Rant over.

Perhaps lazy, but not every one can be an "E" ticket. Light weight is needed from time to time. For where it is located and the fact that more things were needed that both the kids and the adults could experience, I think it is fine just the way it is and certainly deserves more love then it is getting.

It's not really lazy when being an attraction is its secondary purpose.

The Jack Sparrow projection is really cool (everyone thought it was a live actor), but besides for some cool effects, there's nothing exciting to be found in this attraction. I wouldn't suggest it if there's a long line.

The projections have to be seen, and they did get Johnny to film several scenes exclusively for this show. I think there are three different ones, although everything up until Sparrow appears stays the same. I also thought the room was great to look at, some nice detail in there. The show up until Johnny is a terribly weak script, almost more for preschoolers. But the part that bothers me most is the HORRIBLE voice acting on Davy Jones. You got Johnny to film for half a day, and you couldn't hit Bill Nighy up for 2 minutes of ADR?
