Snow White's Scary Adventures update

Ben pretty much took the summer off from going to the park, for which I can't really blame him, but tonight he asked to go take a tram and see Snow White, so off we went. (Anyone who is lost, just do a forum search for "SW1K" to understand Ben.)

The big news: Dopey and Sneezy are finally back in the yodeling scene. They disappeared sometime during the winter and had been MIA ever since. I know that they had been damaged during Grad Night a few years back and had never worked properly since, so apparently they had to be completely rebuilt or refurbished. In any case, after spending most of the year with Snow White and the Five Dwarfs, Dopey and Sneezy have returned and they look fantastic. I don't know if they are completely new from scratch or if they were just thoroughly rehabbed, but in any case they are looking better than I have ever seen them before. When Ben first saw the doors swing open and all of the dwarfs present in that scene, he got a huge smile on his face. It was kind of like, "Oh, there you are... I was wondering where you had got to." :)

Hold up, this is the first I heard of this – what happened to the dwarfs at Grad Night????

I don't know for sure if it's true or not, but at some point I recall a cast member saying something to me along the lines of "Dopey and Sneezy just haven't worked right since some kids damaged them during Grad Night a few years ago." But that's pretty much third-hand information, so don't quote me on that. What I can tell you for sure is that they disappeared for at least seven months this year, perhaps as long as nine months, and now they are back.

Seven, actually.

Just as we got into the park and were coming through the Main Street Station, we had a classic Benjamin moment. You know the archetypal Disney moment where a child comes to the Magic Kingdom, comes around a corner, and bumps into Mickey Mouse himself? Well, that pretty much happened to Ben. We were walking through the station when Mickey came up from behind us, en route to backstage no doubt, and he put his arm around Ben and patted him on the head. Ben just looked up at him with a look like, "Yeah, I know. You're Mickey. So where's Snow White?"

Anyway, after that Ben made his way directly back to Fantasyland and did three laps on SWSA, then over to ride Winnie the Pooh, then back for three more runs on SWSA, then a viewing of Mickey's Philharmagic. One last time on SWSA and he was tired and ready to go.

So that brings his current total up to 1,065 rides on SWSA.

Thanks for the update Lokheed. I'd hate to think of what would happen if SWSA went under rehab... :lookaroun

Kind of a side note: I just finished a GREAT fiction book about an autistic child that really lets you into their mind. It was really eye-opening, but probably nothing you wouldn't already know ;) . It was called the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.

SWSA actually was closed for rehab for about six weeks back in the spring of '04, and that was a looooooong six weeks.

I have read the book you mentioned, and it really is an excellent book. I highly recommend it to anyone, whether they are interested in autism or not. It's just a very good read.

Well, I've said it before, but I'll say it again. You're a great Daddy, Lokheed! :sohappy:

I've never had a moment like that
But- thanks for the update, glad to know that the dwarfs are back, I'm sure Ben loved it!
