Snow White and Pinocchio

I've been thinking about the Snow White and Pinocchio rides at Tokyo and how they are alike to and different from Disneyland in California. Does anyone know about any specific scene-by-scenes of what specifically happens in both rides in Japan from beginning to end? Thanks.

Funnily enough, TDLs dark rides are just coming up at Mousebits.com - they also have a torrent of all the DLPs ones too.

However, I can't seem to find those on there. :brick: Do I need to be a forum member to view them? Besides, what I was after was a play-by-play of the ride scenes, so I could compare and contrast them to the versions in California. That's what I was talking about. Thanks a million.

I just posted on mousebits that the TDL version of snow white is missing the happy end

Unfortunately, all I get is a window saying that the file can't be opened and that it needs to know what program created it. It says I can either check online or find it manually. What program do you use?

I finally got on the Pinocchio video and although the Japanese version of the ride is more or less identical to the one in California, there are nevertheless a few differences between them:

  1. You make a U-turn to enter the theater
  2. The puppet theater stage is on the right instead of the left
  3. Pinocchio sings "I've Got No Strings" instead of "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee"
  4. The donkey bray heard when Gideon hits the hi striker is much different
  5. There are no flashing lights (lightning?) when you pass by Monstro
  6. The music of "When You Wish Upon a Star" is slightly different
  7. In the bedroom scene, Geppetto is wearing an apron, which he isn't wearing in CA
  8. There is no "When You Wish Upon a Star, All Your Dreams Come True" mural with the Blue Fairy

So you see, the language isn't the only difference between Japan's Pinocchio ride and California's Pinocchio ride. What do you think?

hmm .. yeah .. quite some difference ..

have you already checked snow white ?

Not yet, but I will. After I finished Pinocchio, I thought to myself: "All right! One down; one to go!"

BTW, another difference is that in Japan's closing scene of the workshop, there are windows showing the nighttime village outside, which there is none of in California.

The differences between the Snow White ride in the States and the one in Japan are going to be a little harder to write, but here goes:

First and foremost, the very first part of the Japanese ride, where you make the U-turn before entering the Queen's castle, is exactly like the pre-1994 WDW version. You pass by a real mirror in the castle. When you pass by the Queen looking at the mirror and see that she's turned into the witch, she makes a complete 360 degree turn as you pass by, which she doesn't do in the States. During the forest scene, you don't see Snow White or the Huntsman, like you do in Florida. The scenes approaching the Dwarfs' cottage is exactly the same as in Florida, but the scene itself is lifted from California. Immediately upon leaving the cottage, you pass by the witch and the raven, which again is like CA, only there you see the Queen in place of the Witch. You then go through the Dwarfs' mine (the approach up to it is identical to CA, but with the two vultures placed in this area like FL). The mine pays homeage to the closing scene of the old WDW ride. Then you leave the mine and pass by the cottage again, where the Witch tries to give you the apple (just like CA, the apple is a hologram). Then you pass by the Dwarfs chasing the witch up the mountain. And then... the ride is over.

So those are the differences between Japan and the States. No happy ending scene AT ALL. Not even a "happily ever after" book page, like in CA. It paid homage to the pre-1994 version by ending the ride with the witch and the boulder, right then and there.

It sounds like TDL didn`t get the WDW rehab (based itself upon the DLP happy ending version)

- with that and Tomorrowland TDL sounds like worth visiting for the time machine aspect alone!

Dumbo, too. Now that I saw the Snow White video, I'm actually glad that I live in California. Sure, technically there's no happy ending scene there, either, but at least it tried to end happily with the book page. :animwink:

Actually, the TDL Snow White DOES end happily, since the scene ends with the Witch falling off the cliff to her doom as the Dwarfs look on.
