Snacks in park

Does Disney allow us to take any snacks or food and bottled water into the parks. Also was wondering if snacks can be taken into Universal parks and Sea World.

You can bring stuff into the parks. Most things you will read will tell that you should not do this, but if you keep it dicreet you can. Not only can you bring snacks, we bring our lunch every time we go. We bring a small soft-sided cooler with sandwiches, drinks and snacks. We rent a locker for the cooler, and at lunch time we find a shady spot to eat our lunch. Then we eat dinner at a resturant.

Last time one of the security bag checkers jokingly said he was going to meet us for lunch. Obviously they would prefer people buy lunch in the park, but if you don't make it a big deal, they won't stop you.

We carried a drawstring backpack last year and I kept a bottle of water and snacks like granola bars & chewy fruit snacks. That tied the kids over between our early breakfast and lunch. The bag checkers never said anything to us about bringing food/drinks in. :animwink:

YOu can also freeze those Capri Suns or anything in a drink box, and then by lunch time the will have thawed. They also keep any other food in the cooler nice and cool!

As long as the amount of food that you take in doesn't look like you're about to start selling it as a business venture then there will not be any problems :slurp:

Can anyone else confirm/deny this? It's been about four years since I've been to the parks, but I always remember taking along my own gum. Has the policy been changed recently?

Chewing gum isn't banned from the parks. Disney just doesn't sell it. (Nor do the stores in the airport, I discovered once before my flight)

On my last trip to WDW, I saw a mother sit down on a bench with a large backpack. She pulled out a squeeze bottle of jelly, a jar of peanut butter and an entire loaf of bread. She had one of her many children get knives and napkins from a nearby CS location, and then made ten sandwiches for her family. She also had juice boxes and packs of crackers in her backpack!

If she can do this, you can bring in some snacks. Though, be warned, nothing glass! :D

You can bring any food, snacks or drinks into all the parks including Universal and Sea World. The only things you can't bring are alcohol and glass bottles.

For a second there I thought you might be referring to me.

I live about 20 minutes from Disney & go in about once a week. I always bring an insulated bag full of food.

Usually 5 sandwiches, 3 magic wands (chocolate covered pretzel rods), 3-6 fruit snack, craisins, nuts, chopped carrots, 3 Mickey rice crispy treats, 3-6 Capri suns & 2 bottles of water. I sometimes even refill 1 of the parks popcorn buckets from a past visit and bring that in.:lookaroun

Ohh... forgot 3 apples/oranges.
I have never had any trouble with the bag check.

We have been going to Disney every year for the past 12 years and have never had a problem bringing stuff in. I always bring in water bottles, juice boxes, snacks (rice krispy treats, fruit, cookies, etc.). My DS7 is not a big breakfast eater, he usually decides he is hungry around 10 or 10:30 so I tend to bring a bagel or small box of cereal in for him to eat. When my DD12 was small she had food allergies and I always prepared her food (full meals) in tupperware containers and the staff at the resturants had no problem with tossing it into the microwave for me.

I've seen people bring in giant coolers-on-wheels with no problems! :) We always bring snacks/water/etc. in our bags. And gum, too!

Yeah but it's against the POSTED rules to bring in any wheeled baggage or cooler, so LET'S NOT ENCOURAGE IT. It's irritating as all get-out to other guests and it's against the rules.

If that's you in your avatar (which by the way, is absolutely beautiful!), this wasn't you I saw in the parks. :D Though your dedication to your family is wonderful!

Snacks

We have two boys under the age of 10. When we go we always pack three boxes of Pop Tarts. We take 2-3 packages into the park with us in the morning and a couple of juice boxes. Those are smaller and easily get through security. We snack on those in the morning and then split 2 or 3 quick service counter meals at lunch. At dinner (reservations whenever possible or go in the 4PM hour) we always go to a nice sit down restaurant and enjoy a full meal. We have found this saves a lot of money and even some time.
