I've made reservations to camp here for May 2009. I've reserved a site in the 300 loop and was wondering if I'll be able to light up at my campsite???

"Beginning June 1, 2007, Disney owned and operated resort hotels and Disney Vacation Club resorts will become smoke-free environments. This policy includes all guest rooms, balconies, patios, meeting spaces, restaurants, lounges and public space. Smoking will be allowed in designated outdoor smoking locations only. A room recovery fee will be charged for smoking in Guest rooms, on balconies, or on patios."

There are designated areas in the campground where smoking is permitted and only in those areas. Hope this helps.

Officially...

Smoking is prohibited in Guest rooms (including the patio or balcony), restaurants, ballrooms, and all other indoor and outdoor common areas. A $250 - $500 room recovery fee, plus tax, (based on the resort and room type) will be charged for smoking in Guest rooms, on balconies or on patios. This fee covers a deep cleaning to include air filter replacement, carpet extraction, and the cleaning or replacing of drapes, comforters, blankets and pillows.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground: Smoking is permitted at campsites, on cabin porches and in the designated outdoor smoking locations.

At Downtown Disney, smoking is permitted in all common areas except Cirque du Soleil, DisneyQuest, children's play areas, food and beverage locations, merchandise locations, nightclubs and Cap'n Jack's Marina.

You would think you could smoke on the balconies. Im not a smoker but if I were, I would love to light one up on a balcony....Wait now that I think about it i can see why they dont allow it, someone would burn the place down.

If you smoke on your balcony, the smoke is going to waft into the rooms around yours if those guests have their doors open. Not to mention the inconsiderate folks who flick their cigarette butts off their balconies so they land on someone else's (happens a lot at the Contemporary because of the angle).
