Smoking areas at Wilderness Lodge?

Since the new smoking ban in the parks, have they also changed the smoking areas at the resorts? I didn't know about the ban till I accidently came across an article online mentioning and my heart sank. I have back, leg and feet problems so trying to hoof all the way out of the park when I want a smoke is going to be pathetic.

I'm honestly wondering if I just want to go someplace else, like a non WDW park or just go the the Jersey shore for a month. Ugh. I understand that some people don't like the smell, but to me I don't see how it's much different then me not liking the smell of perfume or cologne. And why all the way outside? They couldn't have created a few tucked away little sections off the beaten path in just a few spots?

And did I read correctly that they took away seating within the parks or did I read the article wrong? I'm getting beyond frustrated right now. I'm livid.

There are still DSAs at the resorts. Whether they are as plentiful as in the past at WL, I can't say. I understand your frustration. I feel the same way- we won't be returning to WDW any time soon. Too many other places in the world to explore that aren't so restrictive.

As for seating in the parks- you have to look harder to find it. They've been removing more and more benches due to crowding.

Well one could argue that perfume and cologne don't cause cancer and kill you vs. the second hand smoke that definitely does

I visited WDW about a month ago, and as far as I know, the DSAs at the resorts remain the same.

At the parks, the ban is in place. You will have to walk up all the way to the parks entrances if you want to smoke. At EPCOT you also have a DSA at the International Gateway, between UK and France.

I get as mentioned perfume does not cause cancer, and I get the ban because so many people would smoke outside of the smoking areas. I wouldn't think your whole trip would ride on smoking, that's kind of like me saying I'm not going to Disney because they don't have Dr. Pepper.

Living with someone or always being around 2nd hand smoke may possibly cause cancer over some extreme length of time, but walking past a smoker here and there is not going to cause it. If that were the case I would have had cancer 36 years ago as a smoker since then.

And I can get by a couple hours without smoking, but after that I'm really wanting one. And after eating is for sure a required one and same for when I first wake up. But it could have been dealt with in a better way with both limiting the locations and moving them to a better secluded area. Like 4 locations in each park N, S, E and W... close to the edge of the parks in little cul de sacs or something of that nature.

And of course my decision is going to ride on this new ban. Yes I'm a smoker and yes it's addictive, thus why I can't go but a couple hours before needing one. But that's also pushing myself to not smoke more frequent and feeling irritated inbetween. And looking at spending upwards of $15,000 for a 2 week stay and the find out I would be forced to walk all the way out of the parks each time I want a smoke? Heck yea I'm thinking of going someplace else. Why would I want to pay that much money and be frustrated with having to go out of the park, back through the entrance which will have long lines, each and every time I feel the need for a smoke? Not to mention the walk itself when I have disabilities. For MK I figure a walk to the front and then back could be upwards of 30 - 45 minutes with taking into account the distance + crowds. The "other" nearby non Disney parks still have DSA's.

Addiction really sucks when it dictates your plans and controls your life, I am sorry, I do understand as I am addicted to my kids and family and want to live as long as I can to enjoy my time with them

I took the money I saved for Disney Theme Parks and bought a camper trailer. I'm going to visit Fort Wilderness resort, then onto Key Largo, and am making plans to go to Tombstone AZ. There's a world out there.
I also have cans of snus for when I can't or don't want to smoke.

Booking through their website. And actually more than that because for some reason it only gives me the option for 10 nights of tickets, so have to figure that out so I can get access on 13 days. And that's at Animal Kingdom Lodge with Savanna View, the Disney Dining Plan, Park Hopper, Memory Maker, flight and travel insurance.

I was a smoker started at 14, met this girl on the beach when I was 26; she was an ER nurse and we dated for awhile she said the only way she would marry me is if I gave up smoking. Took me a couple of months to kick the habit on my own but did it and got the girl. Best decision I ever made. It's a hard habit to kick but it can be done

I think you might be able to save money getting the annual pass(at least for one person), that would allow you to get discounts on food, and then maybe you skip the dining plan. Also, just my word of advice but I would suggest booking a standard room, and I would lay dollars to doughnuts you can get an upgrade to an animal view at check in as long as its not a holiday like thanksgiving, Christmas, new years or spring break. Are the flights through them too?

Don’t buy your airfare thru Disney. They aren’t a travel agent and definitely not looking to get you the best deal. You can always find flights for less, unless you don’t mind paying more.

13 day ticket? How so?

As someone else mentioned it might be more cost efficient to get an annual pass. Usually the break even point is 10 days. There are discounts with the AP as well.

As for the smoking I can see both sides of the issue. I am not a smoker but I grew up with parents that smoke and my sister still smokes. So I can see what a pain it could be for a smoker to have to leave the park, but anyway have your tried Nicorette gum or a patch? My mom used both (not at the same time) different times when she had to go longer periods without a cigarette. She would have rather have had a smoke but she said it worked good enough for her not to have a fit or get cranky.

Yea my flight was through Disney, have to see what kind of difference there is going direct through United Airlines non stop. I'm not sure what even want to do at this point. If the walks weren't anywhere near as far, it wouldn't be an issue. Just having a hard time justifying the money spent and being inconvenienced to put it mildly. I'll have get some nicorette inhalers and see how they work and then make a decision.
