I'm not sure about the tightrope but the frowning clown with the "HELP" sign was removed about nine or ten years ago during a refurbishment. He was a clown after my own heart.

The hippo looks drunk. I can only assume that the imagineers think he is meant to be like that as he has been like that for too long.

Best I can figure from some film of Small World taken in the 90's is that the hippos right eye used to wink, but it the eyelid would open as wide as the left eye's between winks. Now it just looks toasted.
