Slow September Start for Star Wars?

So we were going to wait until after thanksgiving to get back to Disney to let things cool down after Star Wars opens. But after I was able to easily score a reservation for oga’s for mid September and read a few articles of how slow Disneyland has been this summer, I took a look at room availability and was shocked to see that almost every hotel had rooms! I was thinking everything would be sold out! What’s up with that? So our Disney countdown is on and we can’t wait!

September has always been one of the slowest times of the year. Despite the opening of SWGE and other efforts to increase attendance it should still be relatively crowd free this September. It really is one of the best times to visit - Have fun.

Disneyland being slow this summer is a combination of things, but Disney made the big screw up of blacking out Annual Passholders. Disneyland and Walt Disney World get different clientele. Disneyland is known as an Annual Passholders theme park. Walt Disney World is Closer to a lot of people in the states and WDW is known for getting international travelers.

The other problem for Disneyland is Rise of Resistance will not be open for Disneyland before January of next year.

WDW on the other hand could be facing 2 different problems. WDW got their prices increased for guests and it is already mentioned that Rise of Resistance is coming to Disney Hollywood Studio's version of Star Wars: Galaxy's edge in December.

Availability is nil in November and December; especially after the 5th (opening of RotR) - at the Swan/Dolphin. The only wide open week was Thanksgiving week (and still is). I suspect the holidays will be rougher than usual this year.

And, September is traditionally a slower time anyway, even when you have people proclaiming there are no slow times anymore.
I think a lot of the predictions about massive crowds for the opening of Star Wars land maybe made some people decide to wait awhile for the crowds to ease up and then that made the crowd they were concerned about become less of a crowd. Although reading my last sentence back, now I'm confused.

WDW hacked prices up too high....
Fans are simply not flocking...especially for just 1 ride.

I know you were asking someone else, but thought I would chime in.
No. Early September, schools have just started back and more people are hesitant to take children out of school for a Disney trip, but the school season is well established by early October, the weather is starting to cool off with less frequent afternoon thundershowers, and in early October more people are coming for the Food and Wine Festival and the Halloween parties even though the Halloween parties are in full swing in early September as well.

September being slow has a lot to do with it. Check out the first week of October. Ap rates for Deluxe hotels are up to $1,500 a night. Most Moderates are sold out.

Just curious on when you booked Olga's. We are going Sept 12-24th and there is no availability. Luckily I did get some reservations the second day, but I was just looking to try and add a lunch time slot and there are none for our 12 days

I booked it the second day it was available. And the only reason I knew it was open to book was bc of a Disney foodie I follow on Instagram. I feel like details have been minimal on all these openings

I’m going in early sept and I’ve been shocked at the amount of hotels, ADRs, and FPs still available.

We’re only a 3 hour drive and I usually plan our trips during ‘off times’ only a few weeks in advance. but even then have I ever seen the selection of rooms available like now. It’s pretty strange. But if that means the parks will be quiet then I’m even more excited for our trip!

Olga’s has almost zero food. Just some bird feed

I am thinking if the land is sold out, it will give us a way in, no need to buy a lot of drinks, just try something out each time, very disappointed that there is no food, or very little, when I drink I like to nosh on some food

Schools in Nashville have been open since the beginning of August. (Summer vacation starts before Memorial Day!)......so, mid-October is the time lots of schools throughout the south begin Fall Breaks. That should provide a shot in the arm for WDW
