OMG. Slinky dog is well...a dog of a coaster...if you are under 10 its ok....other than that its slow...not fun and as the above stated....a horrible queue...especially the east side... Slinky dog is simply an average kids coaster. Nothing more. I mean..you could ride it with a broken neck...lol. On a side note...at Kings Island there is an indoor coaster called Outer limits flight of Fear..it was built by same people that did Rock n Roller...and basically the same ride...if you close your eyes...hard to tell the difference. What disney needs is a coaster like the Beast or Diamondback....themed like Disney rides are....then they'd have a stud of a coaster...as of now...E.E. wins that award. We'll l see about Tron...in like 2029 the way its going... the appeal of slinky amazes me...if people think thats a good coaster...they havnt gotten out much. Space on the other hand is great. For what it is...its perfect. Disneyland though, Space is 5 times better. As just about everything else concerning Dl vs WDW.
I'd like for them to shoot higher than a mediocre coaster, but you have a point as these would be more family friendly. Personally I'd like to see them mimic something like Lightning Racers from Hersey Park, or Lightning Rod from Dollywood (but less intense). The drawback on any of these coasters though is that theming doesn't really do much. It still looks like a wooden coaster just stuck in the middle of a land. I still think that another induction coaster like Maverick or Cheetah Run properly themed would be great. Something like Velocicoaster, but less intense. I still have high hopes for the system they used for Guardian of the Galaxy, especially if they used more show elements prior to the launch. A short dark ride/coaster could be very unique and fun. Kind of like the set up in Journey to the Center of the Earth in Japan.
Ive enjoyed both and will wait in long lines for both. The thrill of the SM dark environment and not seeing the jostling turns as they come makes it fun. But the seating on SM makes it difficult to get in and disembark and also can make it painful on the back, neck and joints to endure. The smoother run and turns of SDD makes it more body friendly and you get to view your surroundings. On this poll I'm in with the minority for SDD.
Slinky just doesn't have the scope to complete with space. Space might be old and you might need to see a chiropractor after riding. But it is still the better attraction. If slinky was hyper themed, it might be a closer fight.
This question is like asking of you prefer being punched or kicked in the head. Both very average attractions. Never understood the attraction of Space Mountain...just a boring roller coater in the pitch black. Slinky dog I can see it's worth if youre a child, but it's definitely not worth the excessive wait times it gets posted.
I give this one to Slinky, as its appeal to children is clear.
