Just a small observation... For a company who was so dead set on getting rid of "Ladies and Gentlemen" everywhere (it mostly sticks out to me at philharmagic)... just noticed that the skyliner says "Ladies, Gentlemen, and Islanders of All Ages" going to HS.

Guess they missed one? 🤷‍♂️ Or did they give up. Or forget?

Probably never changed it.

Probably finally figured out how stupid and irrelevant the entire conversation has been. "ATTENTION: ALL CARBON BASED LIFE FORMS" You are on your way to Disney Hollywood Studio's. It seems the more civilization advances the dumber it gets. Maybe the advancement involves granting to much free time to think about useless things. Equality does not mean that everything is the same, it means that everything that is different is treated equally without thinking one is better than the other. "Vive la différence"!

Like many other things, they just haven't gotten around to getting it done yet. They drag their feet on so many things until it absolutely has to be done or unless there is a group of people protesting or complaining vocally enough. ( Even then it takes forever) Then it becomes a priority. So far the Skyliners message hasn't offended enough people to warrant an immediate change. ;);)

Since Disney is so horribly run, I'm surprised it wasn't like number 2 on their list only behind raising prices again.

Still in Muppets too
In honesty, you Can't really alter old dialogue from several years back of Gonzo, Scooter, Sam and Especially Kermit saying it...Besides, it's closing soon so it hardly matters now.

But, for those curious.....

Preshow:
  • Scooter says it to get the Audiences attention with Rizzo
  • Gonzo says it when he shows this tremendous tap dancing with a pot of flowers balanced on his head
  • Sam Eagle and his safety instructions
3D film
Kermit says it three times
  • during when Bean goes missing
  • when he introduces the final demonstration of Muppetvision 3D.
  • And while riding the Firetruck

Things like this (changing so not to affend anyone, which it doesn't really) is why the poll that just came out shows that WDW isn't even in the top 5 of the most beloved parks in America. MK made # 6 and AK made # 8. Maybe they should not be bowing down to the few that find this type of thing offensive.

Well, you could. Pretty easily, actually, as long as the video was converted to digital. That is a super quick edit with maybe a blur transition. Would take 5 minutes to complete. (Similar to how they literally just cut off Minnie Mouse after "aaalright!-- Put on those opera glasses, via audio... You can do the same with video.)

Stupid? Yes. Necessary? No. Just wanted to say, it is definitely and easily possible.

It is stupid.

To me, "Ladies and gentlemen" sounds old fashioned to my 30 year old brain. So for newer stuff, coming up with something else makes sense (and carbon-based life forms on PeopleMover is kind of funny). For Fantasmic, just saying "Welcome to Fantasmic" instead of the extra words for "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Fantasmic" is fine. And if Mickey's Philharmagic had just been recorded as "Hello everyone...*blah blah blah*" it would have been fine; it only sounds weird because it was taken out.

But intentionally taking it out of old stuff is silly. It's a form of lip-service, where they're like "look at how non-offensive we are!" Without actually really doing anything meaningful.

Your right on the necessity of those words. I've been on this planet almost 77 years now and I do not recall every using that phrase once. However, I cannot for the life of me figure with all the other crap that is going on, anyone having such sensitivity to be offended by it. If people are comfortable with who or what they are it doesn't need to be focused. That's not how one blends into and becomes a part of a community of homosapiens and not some meaningless word that had never even been slightly construed as insulting in the history of the civilization. It has always been a way of including everyone not by actions or beliefs but by a more neutral couple of words. It kind of replaced Mr. Mrs., Miss and the ever popular Ms.

Something I’d like to clarify… this was not a poll at all, it was an analysis of Trip Advisor and Google reviews. Additionally, this wasn’t really a study on theme parks, but notable attractions in general. Finally, the study was conducted by Nieuwe Casinos, which seems to be an online casino information platform based in the Netherlands.

Interestingly, DCA made the top 5 at #5. Anyways, what you said wasn’t really wrong, I just wanted to add some clarification.

So it doesn't mean the same thing?
