Skating on WDW Property?

With the recent inline skating marathon at WDW sponsored by K2, it made me curious -- does anybody know if Disney has any rules about skating on the property? I assume that skating in the parks proper would be a serious no-no for obvious reasons, but other than that...? If I wanted to bring my inlines with me and get my morning excercise by skating from the resort to the park, and then packed them away before going through the park gates would I be stopped by security?

Nope....I do that every day when I am there. If you abide by the normal rules you do when you skate at home, the most you get from any CM's are a good morning and a hello. Some will joke around with you and tell you its to hot for that, but other than that, I have never had a problem.

Way cool! Are there any other good places to skate in the Orlando area? I'll be moving there in August.

I don't think Disney would want people on skates going around their parks for a few reasons. People come out of nowhere and you could knock them down (maybe even anxious little kids). It's too crowded I think for you to do anything really. You shouldn't be allowed into any of the shops or rides.

I'm not talking about skating inside the parks, for exactly that reason. I am talking about skating on the property outside of the parks. For that matter, the place I am moving to is on 192 just a few miles west of WDW. Why deal with driving and parking if I can just skate to the park? Get my daily excercise, avoid the parking hassle...

...and possibly die from heat stroke as my poor body tries to adjust to the climate change of moving from Seattle to Orlando.

In the news bulletins you recieve when you check in there is a paragraph about skating:

"Florida law does not permit in-line skating on roadways or parking lots. Please see a Resort Recreation Cast Member for information concerning appropriate in-line skating and scooters, as well as locations."

So no skating allowed on the roads or parking lots, Florida law, not Disney's rule. But it doesn't say you can't skate on the sidewalks.

The Fort Wilderness biking trails are excellent for rollerblading. But don't spread that around. It seems to be a well-kept secret and I'm trying to keep it that way.

Most hotels have a bike or jogging path. Which is what i skate on. But when I do skate on the streets, you just keep your eyes open, its just common sense.

I once brought Roller Blades to the All-Star Resorts and had no problem skating, that is, once I made it to the jogging path. O my way to the jogging path EVERY morning, there would be some CM telling me that I "couldn't do that", or "no skating" or "that's not allowed here", but once I got to the path, it was fine. Other than people staring at you like you were crazy, it went well.

how cool would it be if you could skate in the park, i know its dangerous with all the people but if you were all alone the world showcase would be great. maybe even skate past the golden girls house a couple times!

There was actually an inline marathon a few weekends ago where they did just that. I wish I could have gone, but I couldn't really justify the expense. I'll definitely do it next year.

Last year I mailed Disney before my vacation and was told that you were NOT allowed to inline in the resorts.

but your also not allowed to swim after 10 but i was in the pool till well after midnight and when security came around they stuck around for a few minutes to chit chat and left on his merry way. i think as long as your respectful to the other guests they will give you a break.

Yeah, unfortunately we didn't know this at the time so I left my inlines at home, rather than take them all the way from England and not be able to use them.

If we go this year then we will be staying offsite, with less oportunity to skate so I guess I be leaving them at home this year as well.

Hey LokHeed, where are you moving to on 192. I live right there in that area. Corner of 535 and 192. Just curious to see how close you'll be:)
