Not sure if anyone has ever metioned about this before. I was listening to the MousePod and a website was mentioned where this guy from the Netherlands who is a Ska musician has created versions of several Disney songs, The songs are free to download and pretty fun stuff. The are quite funky so it might not be for some but I am a fan of Ska and Reggae and really think what I have heard so far is quite fun....

Worth checking them out. Here is his site: Skankin Mouse Music

This sounds very strange, so I downloaded a few, for what I thought would just be comedy value. But...actually, they are quite good. Different - but good!

That is what I thought. It sounds funny espcially because of where he is from and the type of music it is, but they are not bad at all. Some better than others, but kind of neat all the same....

I also have a CD my brother in law got for his kids and made me a copy of. It is called Reggae for Kids and it is all Disney songs that are done in Reggae versions. Very cool stuff...

These can hardly be considered ska, IMO. It sounds like the guy did this with Pro Tools or another program like it. I'm sure most of you will still enjoy it though.

There are many different forms of ska so I still consider it to sound like it. Some of it sounds very much like some old UB40 stuff...

But yes, this is not the best form of ska for sure. If it were, the guy would not be just doing this on the net.

Interesting. They're growing on me. They would be even better if there were someone singing along, but that's pretty hard to do when it's only one guy creating these.

Thanks for the pointer. Just listened to one. Interesting. Downloading the rest for a listen when I get back from work.

I'm now getting the urge to put a Madness CD on :D

I love Madness. I use to have bunch of albums. The CDs over here are so expensive for some reason. I guess because they were not mainstream over here, just a few hits.

AEIOU from Alice in Wonderland is the best one I think. But I have not listedn to them all yet.

I played them for my daughter and she wants the characters to sing along...

Are you aware they recently made a musical using the hits of Madness? "Our House" They made a video of it during it's run and it's out on DVD. I've not yet seen it, but friends who saw it said it was a good show, with an interesting story.

No I didn't but will look into it thanks.

I had a friend in high school who lived in England growing up and he had brought over a bunch of Madness albums that were not available in the US and that was how I got into them. Over hear the song Our House was really the only one you ever heard on the radio. Though I think One Step Beyond was used in a Microsoft comercial years later.

My wife does not like it, thinks it's weird. My daughter likes it because she thinks it's goofy....

Ooh thanks for posting this link. I like "Listen To The Land." Cool variation. Sounds a bit more Reggae than Ska to me.
I'll have to download some more. :)
