Sixt Car Rental

I did but it was when we were in Paris a few years back. Everything there went well and I wouldn't mind renting from them again.

Have you tried Turo? I had never heard of them but a co-worker mentioned the company when he heard we were going to Orlando a few months ago. I have since rented from them twice and I think it is a great service.

You rent the vehicle from the owner and they leave it in a designated spot. In my case, once it was left in the MCO parking garage and my most recent time last week it was left in a long-term economy parking lot that I took a free airport shuttle to get to.

Some nice things about Turo is you do not have to stand in line at a pickup counter and deal with any pushy upsells by an agent for various add-ons and the price is somewhat lower than the companies I compared it with. The Turo website has hundreds of vehicles to choose from. You can filter your search by model year, price range, vehicle type and lots more.

Thanks. I have looked at Turo and it seems to me to be the AirBNB of car rentals. I am not a fan of rentals by owner. We never stand in lines, we just sign up for the rental company's rewards program, skip the counter and go straight to the car.

We rented from Sixt in Iceland. After doing some research we discovered that the company has a reputation for not reporting damage and then trying to collect on it multiple times. The smartest thing I did and continue to do today is take a video of the entire condition of the car - interior and exterior, top to bottom. There was damage on the car that Sixt did not have documented, but I had video proof of it existing at pick-up. I would have missed it if I was only taking pictures, video gives less chance for error.

They treated us very well when I was local and needed to rent. Large vehicle for inlaws. I made homes about them as they were off-site of MCO(but closer than some)and had a red devilish asthetic in the store. I said it felt.kike we were making a deal with the devil.
They were smooth and kind circa 2019.

Has anybody rented from Sixt and what was your experience? Thanks!
I have not but in my many times renting a vehicle after landing at MCO all the usual rental companies have long lines at the queue but hardly any a line ( maybe 1 or 2 persons on line ) at the Sixt counter. Doesn’t seem to be a popular option at MCO.

The lack of long lines was one of the features I mentioned about using Turo. It was a great experience the two times I rented from them since September in Orlando.

Some people think that they're renting someone's personal car that would otherwise be used for daily driving. That doesn't seem to be the case. Many Turo owners have 3,4 or more vehicles that they buy and rent out as a business. Judging by the ones I rented, the vehicles seem to have been better cared for than the ones I've rented from at the big name car rental companies.

@plutofan15 i just picked up a rental at MCO from Sixt at terminal C on Monday. Great process- super easy. And they gave me a free upgrade from full sized Camry to a GMC Arcadia. Car is really nice. I’d totally recommend them.

I have never waited in a line. Join the rental company's loyalty program (free) and I just go straight to the car. No lines, no hassle. Thanks for the feedback on Sixt!

Thanks for the feedback! We will be flying into Terminal C as well.

FYI, Dollar and Thrifty did away with their reward program at MCO. I had to find out about that the hard way. I had to wait in line for over an hour even though I had my rewards number on the reservation. The guy at the counter told me that it was taking too much man power. I tried Turo my last trip and it was fantastic!

This is interesting b/c various sites are littered with terrible reviews for sixt - maybe they have put in effort to improve of late.

I once waited 2.5 hours in line at MCO for car from Budget. Avis has been smooth every time since.

Same here. Never any lines to wait in for Turo or any high pressure sales people behind the counter to try and sell me some add-on that I repeat to them that I do not want many times.

My one and only rental with Thrifty at MCO was apparently a rare excellent experience with no waiting in line when I arrived. I sometimes read through the google reviews about MCO Thrifty and my goodness, what a mess it usually is.

Turo has been great for me and their rates are lower than what the big name rental agencies charge for a similar vehicle.
