(Silly question) Will GMR be open tomorrow, 8/12, for sure?

It should be. I have a general question about closures for anyone to answer. When Disney says an attraction will close, say on August 13th, does that mean the 12th is the last day of operation or will it close after operating on the 13th?

CRYING HERE!

My last minute trip didn't work out, so I am going to miss it. There is a chance I can literally fly out there tomorrow for a day and ride EEA and GMR, but I'd have to buy a one day PH and fly out Sunday morning. Do I dare? Probably will cost me a $1,000 for us to do it.

I am too big of a tightwad to ever consider doing something like that. But, it is your money, so who am I to judge?

I not really bummed about the ride closing, just the fact that in allll my years going to Disney we NEVER had the cowboy scene! I'll be missing there 4 days after closure!!

I had planned to go with a few people a couple weeks ago and then something came up for them. I still went to get my last trip in, because I'm local, and then the rain did not let up the whole day. I didn't get any photos with me and the ride in them or even the best ride experience. I tried registering for the TCM/D23 event and that failed. Sometimes the last minute stuff doesn't always turn out the way you want. What I do have is years of great memories on this attraction, so that will have to be enough. If you think that spending the $1,000 to deal with huge last minute crowds will be worth it, it's your time and money.

Booked a last minute weekend trip as well. GMR & EEA one last time. Both are good attractions, but GMR is the flagship attraction for DHS. Sad to see it go.

We went Thursday, so my kids could ride for the first and last time. The lines were long, so I can't imagine what they'll be like this weekend. I'm so glad I went, but it also made me super sad. Until I went it was just a theoretical, "man I'm going to miss this ride." Now it is fully confirmed. Those long format, dark rides are clearly not popular with the current management, but they are the best. No where but Disney could you ever have a ride like that, and that's why we all get on this boards to talk about it and why we spout off to anyone who will listen about the history of Disney, the parks, and the attractions. I can stomach EEA leaving, since it was only the dinosaurs and "stupid Judy" that made that ride good (and maybe a nap). The GMR is different...it was the park in so many ways.
