The other day I was wondeirng, I dont know if many have heard of these, the costumes the people from the furry fandom wear

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fursuit (more info here)

Are they allowed in the parks? Something tells me no due to security reasons and they can be mistaken for actual Disney characters. I figured it couldnt hurt to ask

The first rule most of those costumes break is that no costumes that cover your face can be worn. No masks, heads, etc.

The other rule is that adults may only wear costumes during Disney's Pirate & Princess Party and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Children are welcome wear costumes anytime though.

why would you want to anyway? its like a 100 degrees everyday in the parks :hammer:

Most people do it because it's a weird fetish they have.

Others are just kind of dorky i.e. there was one guy at Star Wars Weekends dressed as a Wolf but was holding the wolf head around his arms. I don't know why they let him in to begin with.... it might confuse little kids as to why this freak had a tail and "wolf" feet and hands but a human head...

I'm friends with several "furs" and they typically don't dress like that (with the exception of fantasy-themed events).

I've seen a several guests wearing ears (similar to the Disney character headbands, but with animal ears) and a few wearing tails (one was also wearing furry shoes).

Oh god... like they would really allow a pervert dressed up as a fox or something for freaky sexual pleasure to walk around a park that is famous for it's dressed up characters to meet.

I believe I read that you can wear any costume except one w/ a mask that covers your face.

If Disney won't allow me in the parks with my leather friends, then they certainly won't let you furs in.

I mean, the security guards were glad to join in and help torture me... but those jackasses forgot the safety word and now I have scars on my torso.

Adults can also wear Star Wars costumes for Star Wars weekends.

Yes...and...how does one say this without being indelicate...it would be hard to stop them, especially the females, as many of the outfits (especially the Naboo-themed ones) are very hard to distinguish between costume and real-life religious attire.

During SWW earlier this month I spent several minutes in line to buy some refeshments behind a woman who I assumed was Muslim. (Of course, I must state that her heritage is irrelevant, but you do tend to notice when someone standing in front of you wrapped in highly decorated fabric in 90 degree heat.) After she paid, I saw her walk over to a guy in Jedi outfit and give him a kiss, LOL. For a few moments I honestly forgot I was at SWW, LOL.

Now, I'm an Amidala expert - I would have noticed if it had been one of her outfits, but it wasn't. There were an awful lot of people dressed in generic peasant attire from some of the SW planets (Naboo, Tatooine, etc.).

I bet they wouldn't let someone in a Slave Leia out fit in, LOL. MKT, wanna test that one out after you are done staking out DTD with your Koran and once your torso heals? :)

Ah, so you were that person who got caught at the gate and got an internal examination and enjoyed it.

This is straight from the Cast Hub (So in other words, it's official):

The Walt Disney World® Resort is a heavily themed environment whose world-renowned brand is woven into every element of our show. We reserve the right to exclude from all of our gated attractions (i.e, theme parks, water parks, Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest® Indoor Interactive Theme Park) Guests whose appearance could create a distraction to the show. Some examples of Guest appearance that could be considered inappropriate or a distraction to our show include, but are not limited to:
Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as a costume (unless worn by a child under the age of 10)
Masks
Easily visible obscene or objectionable language or graphics
Excessively torn clothing
Clothing with objectionable material
Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment (e.g. string bikini tops, bikini bottoms, G-strings, etc.)
Objectionable tattoos

The goal of the Walt Disney World® Resort is to provide a safe, secure environment for our Guests to enjoy the show and our Cast Member to deliver the show. To this end, all theme park guests are required to wear shirts and shoes at all times. Swimsuit tops are allowed when worn with other appropriate garments.

Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest® Indoor Interactive Theme Park and our water parks have additional property-specific guidelines related to guest appearance. Based on the brand of entertainment provided at each of these locations, an altered standard of dress might, at times, be considered appropriate.
