Silly question about contest rules

Hi there I know the contest rules for the YOMD mail in contest states that you need to mail them a 3.5 x 5" postcard. I am from Canada and cannot find this size anywhere. Can I just cut up some index cards and place them in an envelope or will they just throw these out? Has anyone tried this? I already spent 50 cents per post card and it will cost 97cents plus tax to mail them to the U.S.from here. So if I spend that much on postage I would like to make sure they will not throw them out. There is no special postcard rate in Canada. Thank you

You can actually just mail index cards or cut-up cardstock in the correct size. No need to put them in an envelope. It just has to be something sturdy like cardstock or index cards, not cut-up looseleaf or printer paper.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know if they call and tell u that you won or do they just mail your prize? Just curious because it says Canadians would have to answer a skill testing question.

I would assume that a Canadian would have to be contacted by phone to answer the mathematical skills question before receiving their prize.

Good thing I'm not Canadian as I suck at math. :p

Although that is true, I would still put them in an envelope just b/c if you don't everyone that handles that card will see your address and now a days you can never be too careful. That's just my opinion.

In that case, you need to fear the phone book and the postal service.

Don't the rules state that it should be a postcard?

b. Also, starting on September 18, 2006, eligible participants can enter without being present in a Disney Property by writing their full name, complete mailing address (including postal code), daytime telephone number (including area code), and date of birth on a 3.5"x5" postcard and sending it with proper postage affixed to: (i) if a legal resident of the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada or Mexico: P.O. Box 8629, Elmhurst, IL 60126; or (ii) if a legal resident of the United Kingdom: Disney Dream Giveaway, 483 Green Lanes, London N13 4BS. Participants may enter once per day during the Giveaway Period. All mail-in entries must be mailed separately, postmarked by December 31, 2007 and received by January 14, 2008 or they will be void.

The rules state a postcard and not a card inside an envelope. Opening envelopes takes manpower that Disney may have deemed not worth the expense. So if you mail your entry inside an envleope, you risk it going right into the trash for not following the contest rules.

As for the original poster, I wiss I knew what to say other than cut up card stock or use index cards (as long as they're decently sturdy index cards and not floppy, thin ones).

And in other news, with the USPS postal rates going up in May, postcards will be 26-cents to mail. (I assume that the pre-stamped cards from the USPS will increase to $1.40 for a packet of 5.)

Wow that is so cheap I would be mailing everyday if postage was that cheap from here. Thanks for the advice
Oh does anyone know why ou must put our birth date on the postcard?

My guess is that it's for their records in case you win one of the larger prizes. It also helps identify you more specifically, especially if there are two family members in a household with the same first name.

they have to do a skill testing question in canada because of the prize value canada it will most likely be simple math, its just a legal formality
and i'm pretty sure you can use any any cardstock that is to those dimensions

I keep wondering about the "simple" math question. I'm not Canadian so I don't have to worry about it for winning a prize, but what do they consider "simple"? 2+2=4? or, is it something more like [4x+9]-27+3x=?, because that would be a little ridiculous (and I'd lose!).

theyre usually something like 18+2-(5x3)=
not overly complicated, just enough to make you think
