Signage or Architectural Model Jobs

Good evening everyone, and good luck to whichever team you are rooting for tonight!

I have been giving this a lot of thought lately, but am in need of help. I figured which better site to go to than WDWMagic!

I did an internship with them back in 2007, and loved every minute of it. I would love to be able to go back to work for them in there in-house sign/graphics shop, as a architectural/scale model maker, or as a set builder.

Currently, I am Graphic Designer/Production Manager for a sign shop, but would rather be where the climate is a bit warmer and with a company that has the word "Disney" in it.

Does Disney do their own in-house digital graphics/signage (IE, graphics for the monorails, window graphics, banners, ride signage, etc.)? If not, does anyone know which company does this for them?

My ultimate dream would be to become a model builder for Disney (Or Universal if Disney wouldn't accept me... but that would be a LAST resort, lol). I have several years of design/fabrication experience with an architecture firm. I know Disney builds scale mock-ups of their concepts during the preliminary stages. Is that all done in-house by the Imagineers, or is it done by another department? Building models from scratch is my passion, and would love to do it for the company I've always wanted to work for.

Thanks to everyone in advance for your help. Have yourself a wonderful evening and have fun tomorrow at work, school, or whatever activity you have to do tomorrow.

Most of the things you are seeking to do have been contracted out to Third Parties over the years. Imagineering is based in Glendale, Ca. You can go to this link, http://corporate.disney.go.com/careers/who_imagineering.html and then click on Openings in the left hand column. From there, use the Business Unit Box to select "Walt Disney Imagineering" to get a current list of openings.

A company in Orlando that does the kind of work you seek, and that Disney, as well as other theme parks and entertainment venues, sometimes contracts with is Nassal http://www.nassal.com/. Take a look at their Project Portfolio for examples of their work. Jack Rouse Associates is another World Renowned company working the the areas you are interested. You can find them at www.jackrouse.com. Unfortunately, they are in Cincinnati, Ohio and not the sunny South. They are currently looking for a Scenic Fabrication/Installation Project Manager according to the About Us section of their website.

ScenicWorks is another Orlando based company you might try. http://www.scenicworks.com/Default.aspx?tabid=36

I hope this gives you some ideas. Over the past 10 years, I have worked in different capacities in the Orlando Entertainment Industry and have had both direct and indirect contacts with each company listed. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide you with specific contacts.
