Our 1st vacation sickness happened in 1995 at Christmas time. We were flying from Chicago for 3 days at DL. The plane was packed with Rose Bowl goers (first time for Northwestern to make the Rose Bowl). My son, then 9, caught something on the plane. We were in line at Space when he wanted to get out of line. We headed back to the hotel in a cab cause he didn't think he would make it waiting 10 minutes for the shuttle bus. We made it to the hotel but as we stepped out of the elevator, he exploded. I got him back to the room and cleaned up and into bed and I called the Front Desk and told them somebody had gotten sick just outside of the elevator on the 2nd floor. I thought my cover was good until he sat up in bed and ralphed all over himself and the bed, I don't think he even woke up. Then I called the desk and they sent up a very wonderful maid who cleaned up everything and left me extra towels, linens and disenfectant in case we had more trouble. By the time we returned to Chicago, ny neice was sick 4 times on the 3 1/2 hr plane ride, my brother was sick and I and my nephew had started. It was the worst stomach flu I had ever had. At Christmas of 1997, my brother fell aftergetting off of Splash Mountain just before where you can see your picture. He had broken his arm but didn't know it yet. They went to first aid and got no help. Back at the Contemporary, called front desk and were told to go to some clinic. When the cab got them there, it was closing so he then went to Sand Lake (I think) hospital. When he returned home, he called WDW to report the poor service at first aid but they claimed they had no record of what he was talking about. They have cameras at all attractions and no one acknowledged he had fallen. Bugged him a little but he still goes twice a year, just no more running around the Splash area. We now all say, "be careful or you might break and elbow", everytime someone does something careless. Finally, last summer my 9 yr old neice got dehydrated and started getting sick. I took her back to the hotel. She kept ralphing so we called paramedics. They checked her out and told us to force the fluids. She was better in a day.
